That was downhill on EV from the gas station to my office. About the only time I got anything decent! I do have plenty of shots in the 40's, but when I went to fill the tank, those numbers didn't correlate with what I put in the tank. It was very deceiving.

 

However, with that being said, it may not be a Hybrid, but it is happy MPG! So far on the first tank, seeing over 20 MPG, and hoping that the fill correlates with the dash on this one. Once I get a couple tanks in and on Fuelly, then I will have a better idea if its close or off. Its better than the old one was, thats for sure. Not bad for a 4600# brick with 365 HP and AWD that seats 7 and tows 4500#. I wonder what it will get towing a trailer.

 

 

 

It's not a Hybrid, it's a "4600# brick, 350 HP with AWD". These screens are probably non-hybrid gas only. I did some research and this type of screen shows up on the Taurus page.

I've noticed on many occasions that my 20 mile city trips are around 50 mpg but the ones above 30 mile in city crosses 60 mpg. It almost looks like the HVB drains off most of its juice overnight cooling the pack with the little hamster fan in the trunk. the longer trip gives it better charge level to reduce load on gas engine which results in better mpg.

 

My sweet spot distance is 30+. Did anyone else had the same observation?

I filled the beast up last night since I will need it for the next few days while My Girl gets her skirt repainted. With 4200 miles+ it is getting even better. 21.6 on this last tank, 23 on the prior one. Seems funny that it gets half what the other car does. 21 and 42.

It looks like the Lady has finially forgotten her long trip and is back to nicer commute MPG # today I got my first 50+ trip from work > home.

 

 

The last two days I had 47.7 and 47.8 MPG all three with no AC just fan.

I am getting spoiled driving the Flex, but 21 MPG vs 43 MPG is going to dent the pocket book this week. Car still isnt ready, so another day in the Vagon!

I had quite a round trip today with some really happy results.

 

Home > hotel ( picked up my boss ) > downtown Chi > diff. hotel ( dropped off boss ) > home.

 

Calculated avg. based on the trip meters 49.87 MPG for a 115.5 mile round trip. Here the first leg which was also the best one

 

 

The other three 48.8 / 46.8 / 49.0. I had to run the AC to and from downtown it was way too hot but still managed great numbers at least IMO.

Ouch had to fill up again last night! Car is still not ready, maybe today, hopefully tomorrow. However, can't complain about Vagon, she is getting 21, and I am enjoying her power of the Dark Side. I probably would have seen 22+ this last tank had it not been for all the traffic I encountered Tuesday. It dropped the MPG from 22.6 to 20.8, and I was able to get it back up to over 21 by the time it needed to be filled.

 

Can't wait to see My Girl with tints.

Went out to dinner tonight on a route that is basically the same as my morning and evening commute. Temperature was 75-79, so only the fan was used. I started with a low SOC on the battery and the trip in got 42.5 mpg, but ended with 98% SOC. The drive home was a real surprise. On a section of city street with a significant incline, my FFH stayed in all EV at 39 mph for over 1/4 mile. It has never done that before. The first sign of an upgrade, the ICE kicks in to assist or take over. Freeway time was at 65 mph. Pulled into the garage and saw 58.2 mpg, but with a low SOC. Now if only I could have plugged it in so that I could start out with a 98% SOC tomorrow morning.......

Ok so I had to do an unexpected trip to our location in Daphne, AL today which is an 8 hour drive. I left the house with approx 3/4 of a tank and it was around 45-46 for mpg so far and I decided to just run it until I needed gas instead of topping off. Well after driving :shift: on the interstate up through the ridge with ECO cruise set to 70 mph and hilly terrain this is what I ended up at!! :drool: :yahoo:

 

I actually only pumped 10.38 gallons after 2 clicks so it came out to 43. something on fuelly. I have also added a new fuelly badge to my sig for post update tracking. I have been extremely pleased with the PCM update and it has helped my mpg by a 3-5 mpg increase. My first fill up that shows on fuelly is not entirely accurate because there was a lot of idling (which still kills the mpg average) on that tank one day when I was stuck in traffic and shopping with the wife. I'm not going to sweat my tail off just so I can have a good average mpg reading lol...

 

I have found that 70 on the highway yields a very decent mpg but you try inching up and around 73 hit takes a big hit lol.... After I filled up I had right at 41 mpg average for approx 1/2 when I arrived at my destination. :happy feet:

Was not expecting to see this today. Had to get gas, so the trip from my house to the station was around 8 miles, and not counted in this, trip was 35 MPG to the station, but from the station to my office.

 

 

Looks like the first few miles really do have a huge impact on FE, since I wasn't "playing the game" to get this, in fact I was driving a bit more aggressively because we were running late. Accelerating up to 3 Kw to 60 MPH.

 

Like I said, wasn't expecting to see this, more like 42 like I have been getting.

MPG getting incrementally better, just hit 45.5 overall--1,750 miles. I'm happy!

Yes it does no question. My distance to the gas station is ~ 2 miles last time I managed 38 MPG. The result from there to my office ~ 56 MPG IIRC.

 

I think one big reason it influences so much is the fact most of us don't even use a gallon of gas getting to work. The base line still is Miles Per Gallon.

Yes I also saw a major dip in mpg during rain. Seems like the wider tires plough through the water adding a bit more resistance.

And maybe the humidity affects engine efficiency as well.

I've noticed that there's a certain battery/engine warm-up distance that the car's not efficient. the second trips (taken back to back) and longer than 10 mile trips are more efficient. Edited September 22, 2013 by majorleeslow

I reset the lifetime and all the others with the last refill and I'm indicating 41.7 lifetime at about 70 miles into the tank. First time in the cars 10,800 miles that the lifetime has exceeded 37mpg. I believe that the 100%SOC reset was kinda like the 2 by 4 upside the mule's head and got the cars attention. LOL

Congrats, I believe it's helped me too.

I did a Hard Re-set with the HVB at 1/3 SOC and didn't have much luck.

After the 100% SOC Hard Re-set things are improving, hallelujah!

A recent high MPG trip. City driving. Started with a not warm ICE but not cold either. ET Mode showed a coolant temp of 47 C when I started.
