corncobs Report post Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) It used to be that I "stole" my wife's Explorer to drive to work because it was so much more comfortable and safer especially in winter time than my HHR. But those times are over now since the FFH is more comfortable and gets more than twice the mileage. hermans Report post Posted May 26, 2013 I just returned from a 4 day trip with the MKZ hybrid. 1202 miles 44.6 MPG with some very mountainous driving in W. VA. The car only had a couple of hundred miles when I left. Very happy camper with FFH and the MKZ. 4 hybridbear, corncobs, rjent and 1 other reacted to this

Riggo Report post Posted May 27, 2013 I noticed your gas icon turned red. Does it start out yellow and then turns red when it's actually critically low? I know people have gone beyond the "distance to empty" mileage. I'm wondering if this red icon is a better indicator of when it's actually low.

Terps Report post Posted May 27, 2013 Guess the car was happy with my decision to get BBQ for lunch. This is the return trip which is mostly flat from there to my house, 55 MPH. Managed to not hit the light and coast/brake back to about 80% SOC as I hit EV+ mode too. The rest of the trip was to run an errand first, about 13 miles across town and back stopping at the BBQ joint at 49MPG, so overall great but capturing a trip like this is always fun. 2 hybridbear and gadgetguy reacted to this

I know people have gone beyond the "distance to empty" mileage. I'm wondering if this red icon is a better indicator of when it's actually low.It turns red at some point as it gets lower. It doesn't seem to turn red or yellow relating to the DTE. My DTE hit 0 miles before it turned red. I think the red is indicating that it's really getting low. Since we seem to have issues getting the full 13.5 gallons out of our tanks I'm going to base my determination when to fill up based on the gallons I put in last time. For example, I just put it 12.942 gallons. This means I should be able to use up about that many gallons according to the trip computer before having to buy gas again. When I first left the gas station the DTE showed over 700 miles. We're now about 75 miles into this tank and the DTE shows about 675 miles last stop when I got home You drove 606 miles without shutting off the car?!?!? Wow!! How many hours was that? 1 gadgetguy reacted to this
gadgetguy Report post Posted May 28, 2013 Good morning everyone. Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend! Here is this mornings commute which is right on the money! Most of this was interstate 60-75 mph speeds. Started out with the battery at about 3/4 charge and temps in the high 60's. Did not use the AC and had the windows cracked. It was a very enjoyable ride to work lol.. 4 acdii, hybridbear, fusionTX and 1 other reacted to this

hybridbear Report post Posted May 28, 2013 That is very nice. You've also set a new low MPH record, 17.35 MPH :)Hahaha not surprising since we've been trying to avoid the freeways as much as possible. Although yesterday I did some highway trips and got between 45 and 50 MPG going 55-60 MPH on the highways

corncobs Report post Posted May 29, 2013 After my 1000 miles challenge average suffered a bit from our Memorial Day shopping trip and had to make up for it during my daily commute. You know what just crossed my mind after looking at the 64.1 in your '10 again; it's probably the result of the cleaning and polishing job you did over the weekend. neod192's must be returning off the charts mileage after his polishing job !!!
