MPG Happy Talk

Recommended Posts

This is nothing impressive with all the outrages numbers I'm seeing on here, but what the heck, I'll post it anyway...

What the heck are you talking about? That's easily on par and actually better than most results. Very nice especially for the miles traveled. ;-)

Hit a milestone today. Lifetime average since I bought the car hit 40mpg. That includes "break in" and hybrid driving familiarity. I think I've past those hurdles.

I'll be resetting everything at next fillup.

Best part is, with the calculating I did before buying, anything above 37 mpg and the car is paying for itself. Yay free car!

Edit: I considered correcting my spelling above, but decided to just deal with the shame.

I think this is my best commute MPG thus far... did not have co-worker/carpooler so was able to take the podunk road for the last few miles where the MPG really benefits... tank is currently about 500 miles and shows 152 miles DTE, gonna go for it tomorrow and see where the tank ends up.

Dude that's freaking awesome!!!

Ok so I know I have been fairly quite lately but I do monitor and read the posts. My commute is pretty much identical each and everyday so not much to post in the way of ground breaking mpg like jeff_h just posted before me lol... I am really hoping the PCM update that Ford is coming with will help with my highway mpg so I can start improving my overall. I will be getting it done as soon as I can and I am watching that thread as well.

However today was a milestone for my FFH in that it rolled 10,000 miles :shift: in 4 months 2 weeks and 3 days!!!

When it rolled over.... :headspin:

20130725_071956.jpg

When I got to work!!

The 50+ mpg on my morning commute is pretty typical and it's still awesome!! :happy feet:

I also came upon the first (other than mine) hybrid I have seen in my area so I had to snap a pic #throughglass as I passed. I wish I could have talked to him to see what kind of results he has been getting.

Well keep up the great posts and happy hybriding lol!

Hi gadgetguy very nice update! I might be rolling over to 10k next week.

Looking at your rear view mirror it looks like you were holding up the driver behind you ;-)

Haha not as bad as it seems but I did slow down to take the pic when I realized it was a hybrid.

Well so far every day this week on the way in the car has been above 47 MPG. Too bad the trip home isn't like that, but traffic sucks going home, way too many lights that are red. They are still above 43 mostly, so cant complain there either.

Nice. It's a tie,

... but jeff_h went 4x further that would be the tiebreaker ;-)

May be but I had no regen miles. Looks like I need to have the wife drive the car to work and back again and take a shot of the display. It's a mile and a half round trip. She says can do it all the way in EV mode.

That pic is actually a few months old, have posted it before... actually I could make that trip just about any time I want, as it is 1.0 miles from my house to the Wawa station, and downhill for 90% of it (why you see so much regen) - so it's actually not much of a feat.

My wife's trip to work is flat. No change in elevation. She usually has a lead foot. But when driving the hybrid it's all about getting the best mileage. But with that short of a trip she uses the Focus most of the time.

OK I'm confused. My trip for this last tank was 46.4, yet the fill to the first click came out to only 43.4. A 3 MPG difference.

Mine is consistently short like that, if you mean that the calculated display is more optimistic than the actual. Last tank the trip display said 53.7 and actual was 51.1 - it's normally a bit less than 2 MPG difference, but I guess I packed the tank really full this time.

Again, got over 47 to work this morning!! Too bad I cant drive to work every trip. The return trip home is always lower mainly due to hitting more stop lights and heavier traffic.

Ok so this is my best highway route commute :shift: to work to date!!! Right on the money!!! Was running a little late so I didn't take my city route but it was cool enough to turn climate off and crack the windows just a bit. I will be taking my car in to the dealer next week for service incl all of the TSB's that are out.

20130729_074239.jpg

The only bad part was my wife used my car yesterday and when I got home I noticed my lights were on???? I thought humm wonder where she is going and then noticed there was no one in the car  and she had left it running for about an hour and a half !?!?!

Well there went my tank average and it hurt my lifetime as well..... She forgot to hit the button when she got out. Good thing we live in a nice low crime neighborhood lol....

... Longterm average back to pre road trip number

... And last but not least best drive home result.

Obviously not using the AC on the ride home helps a lot. ;-)
