Titanium Pedals and Lighted Door Sill Plates

Here are a couple of photos of the Alloy brake and accelerator pedals from the Titanium Hybrid Fusion, and the lighted Fusion door sill plates that I installed on my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE:

The instructions with the lighted door sill plates are very good, since those are an official Ford accessory item. The sill plates get power from two wires going to the back of a connector in the overhead light console (behind the sunglass holder and map lights). The cables then run down the front drivers side A-pillar to the footwell, and then split apart underneath the dash to each side of the car and down behind the left and right footwell kick plates to the two door sill plates.

 

You have to pull or remove about a dozen different panels to get access to run the wires, so you would need to feel comfortable with doing that, but other than taking allot of time to do it correctly, the job itself is not that difficult to do. You do need to solder a couple of wires together, for the power connection, since there is no dedicated wire connector for the sill plates to get power from (you need to supply your own soldering iron, solder and electrical tape).

 

The kit includes a generous supply of wire ties to keep everything looking neat and tidy. The sill plates are lighted from a single LED each, that feeds into a plastic fiber optic light pipe going to each of the letters in the word "Fusion" to light it up (pretty cool). The sill plate lights come on when you open the door and dim down to off in unison with the overhead lights.

That tops my ability, when the accessory page calls for it to be dealer installed I thought it might be something like that.

No where near as bad as installing the trailer lighting harness in a Flex. You basically have to remove every single panel in the car, and then figure out how to get power to the module. All the fuses are under the hood, and no path between the cabin and engine compartment.

 

 

IOW the sill install is a piece of cake!

Looks good - but I'm curious - looks like the interior color of your car is Dune - although you say it is a Titanium. Maybe that is an option on the Hybrid, but all gas versions have black interior. To say the least - since your interior color is dune - you do know that the lighted sill plates come in 2 different colors - black and dune? The black doesn't look bad - but they do come in both colors.

Sounds like he installed the Ti pedals and door sill from a TI on his SE.

His is an SE, he added the Ti goodies. Too bad cant add the Sony to it, or I would not care if it got 35 or so, good stereo can make up for lack of other things.

Did we ever find out why they discontinued the alloy pedals in the FFH and NRG Ti's? I wouldn't think they would have a supply constraint.

You may want to stick with your negotiated price because while the base price dropped $100, some of the features went up in price as of March 1st.

Is this a fact? I ordered the sill plates with my dune/leather interior on my FFH SE. The sill plates that the dealer installed are black.

 

Furthermore, the ceiling pod with the lights/sunglass-case on my car has to be repaired/replaced because the rear clips won't hold fast to the ceiling panel. The whole pod is dangling down on the rear edge. I thought this was a faulty factory assembly. Turns out it was just shoddy workmanship by my dealer's service department. I also noticed a nice inch-long gouge in the silver bezel around the MFT dash section. I'm guessing that was caused by my dealer, too, during the sill plate install. I was led to believe these were factory issues. I'm glad I read this thread.

I remember seeing 2 illuminated still plates on that site a few weeks ago, but looks like it's gone now. Maybe it didn't really exist, just a bad listing.

What's the difference in the lighted sill plates between dune & charcoal? Is it the color of the metal around the lighted letters?

The plastic part, it doesnt cover the entire sill with metal, so the plastic part would be the interior plastic color.

Here's the site that sells the Dune and Charcoal sill plates. They seem to use the same picture for both.

I just got a 2013 Fusion hybrid Titanium it did not have the alloy brake and accelerator pedals. I found out as of Feb 13 that opition is no longer avalable on hybrid models. only gas models. I assume Ford was worried about high voltage in a major crash rounting to the medal pedals or the pedals acting as a ground point for drivers that drive bare foot.

High Voltage or grounding: Hadn't heard of anything like that prior to your comments. Interesting hypothesis.

I have the same problem, they're ordering me a new set. It's like one of them is missing a blue gel

finally got this fixed, there was no gel it jut had the wrong color LED, blue door sills look great considering my ambient is set to red, so when I open the doors the ambient switched to blue and matches the door sills.
