ny2oc1996 Report post Posted February 12, 2013 Ordered a 2013 FFH Titanium on 12-13-2012. All of these board posts were really helpful so I have to start with a big thanks to all who take their time to contribute. This vehicle is technically a replacement for my wife’s Mustang but will be the family sedan. I started thinking we would buy a Kia Optima, then found they have a hybrid and during that research learned about the FFH. It was love at first sight! I couldn’t believe this was a Ford Fusion. All I saw was an Aston Jaguar sedan. To be honest, mpg was on my top three criteria checklist but the number one reason we ordered was the excellent styling. After reading this forum the mpg debate became very perplexing. Here is how I resolved the FFH mpg controversy. First, I went to Fuelly.com and averaged several of the competition’s mid-sized hybrid mpg. Below are the results:Fuelly.com MPG Average (as of 2-10-13) 2013 Fusion Hybrid – 37.4 mpg (3615 lbs)2012 Fusion Hybrid – 34.6 mpg (3720 lbs)2011 Fusion Hybrid – 35.3 mpg (3720 lbs) 2012 Camry Hybrid – 38.2 mpg (3417 lbs)2012 Sonata Hybrid – 33.0 mpg (3457 lbs)2012 Optima Hybrid – 32.5 mpg (3490 lbs) BTW, I broke out these numbers into separate sectors to possibly identify any “suspicious” entries, and found none. Further, the variances were consistent with the competitions so I believe these are accurate numbers. Certainly there are no entries that would effectively change the running average. My conclusion: Based on the above numbers it is clear that Ford made an appreciable improvement in their 2013 model mpg over their former model. Next, in the mid-size family sedan class the best mpg is a virtual tie between FFH and Toyota Camry. The Ford is 200 lbs heavier and the margin of error is 1.0 mpg so that pretty much makes this too close to call. Given that fact, the Ford styling made this a no contest in our decision. 2 coach81 and B25Nut reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted February 12, 2013 Oh the Fusion is so much better than the Camry. Been there DONE that! My 2010 Rocks when it comes to MPG too. 40.6 yesterday 38.2 today, and I aint tryin. The wind on the way home knocked it down to 34 though, but it was 30+ MPH winds I was driving into. The 13 rides and drives Much better than the 10 does, and is more comfortable too. Good choice, especially the HyTi.
B25Nut Report post Posted February 12, 2013 ny2oc, thank you for sifting through the facts. You have helped make the issues crystal clear for potential buyers. The FFH isn't perfect, but it is closer to being so than any other family sedan (or any other class of vehicle IMHO). As you said, the Ford styling just makes it no contest. I know you'll enjoy cruising Orange County!
