Video (Yellow) Connector and Red & White (Audio) Connectors

Recommended Posts

Probably should have noticed this earlier. In looking at a Fusion Hybrid Titanium today, I noticed an RCA video connector in the console, along with two audio connectors. What is the ireal purpose for the video connection? Is it connected to the vehicle display?

Looks like that is the idea for those with MFT, below is copy/paste from the owners manual.

Your A/V inputs allow you to connect an auxiliary audio/video source (such as a gaming systems or a personal camcorder) by connecting RCA cords (not included) to these input jacks. The jacks are yellow, red and white and are located either behind a small access door on the instrument panel or in your center console. You can also use the A/V inputs as an auxiliary input jack to play music from your portable music player over your vehicle's speakers. Plug in your 1/8 inch (3.5 millimeter) RCA adapter into the two left A/V input jacks (red and white).

Probably not a good idea to hack it so it works in drive. If you have an accident, the investigators check things like this now, and could work against you. There was a crash last week where a guy drove into a chinese restaurant, the police didn't like his answer and pulled his phone records and found he was texting when he crashed. With the advent of black boxes and such, best to leave something like this that could be considered a driver distraction, alone.
