acdii Report post Posted April 15, 2013 It can be done, it isnt easy, and takes a lot of practice to get it right, but it can be done. A while back when I had the troublemaker, the Ford tech showed me how they achieve the high MPG on them, and I posted a video of the technique, and there are several more out there in properly functioning cars that show it too. In just normal conservative driving, getting mid 40's should be easy. Heck if I can do it in a 2010 FFH, got 44.5 this morning, getting 50 in the new Fusion should be very possible. Harbor Report post Posted April 18, 2013 (edited) Included is a link to a relevant document: http://allstatetrucks.com/images/Recalls/R13B03%2013%20Fusion.pdf It should be enough information for the dealers to get it done. GrySql Report post Posted April 19, 2013 Ford has not issued a recall on this. It's a Customer Satisfaction Announcement. A recall is a totally different animal. Was just at the Dealer, when they ran my VIN it had this shifter issue in the OASIS Report under the heading of "Outstanding Field Service Actions", "Number 13B03, Install Leather Shifter Knob".Yes, this is like changing a light bulb in importance, not a Recall. There were no TSB's or other announcements that applied to my car. Harbor Report post Posted April 19, 2013 When I talked to my dealer yesterday they confirmed the same thing that GrySql said just above. When you bring your car in for any service, they will be able to see if there are any outstanding service issues. Included in this list is the missing leather shifter. So in theory, none of us should have to do anything going forward. The dealer should already know if you should recieve the leather shifter based on your vin. erichFla Report post Posted April 19, 2013 (edited) My thoughts on this are why aren't the Dealers contacting their customers that bought from them these Hybrid cars and setting up appointments for them to get the corrections or are they just seeing if they can get out of it.Also I called the Parts Dept of my Local Dealership and they said they Don't have any in stock. but there was ONE in Detroit. He then asked if I wanted to order it, I said No, you guys have to order it. He said we'll have to take pictures of your old one first and look it up. It will only take 3 days to get it. I'm not leaveing my car there for three days for them to order something they should already be on top of and have in stock, unless I'm the ONLY one that bought a Hybrid from them, LoL. It was the Last Hybrid that they had in stock when I bought it. Edited April 19, 2013 by erichFla
acdii Report post Posted April 19, 2013 In General, the dealerships arent aware of these until a customer brings it in. There is a miscommunication between Ford and their dealerships. I talked to my dealer and mentioned it, and he looked at the letter and said, why cant Ford let US know too! He used to work for Ford too. 1 erichFla reacted to this
erichFla Report post Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) I posted my story on the shifter Knob issue in the Spare Tire thread as there was more Info I wanted to pass on about the Spare Tire at the same time I had my Shifter Knob ordered. Yes it's been ordered and that's all.Now I'm waiting and a little P.Off too. See other story. http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/6163-spare-tire-for-fusion-hybrid/page-4?do=findComment&comment=49767I can see why this Dealership has a 2.5 Star out of 5 rating. I'd rate it at -1 on Customer Sales & Service Satisfaction.I think after 1 and a half to 2 years I'll switch back to Toyota. At least I know their Customer Service is Really Good at my Local Service Dealership for my 2012 Tundra. I'm now sure glad I pick that instead of the Ford F-150 based on my current FORD experience. erichFla Report post Posted April 24, 2013 Well my Dealer called yesterday and my car goes in for the Leather Shifter Knob change out this Sat. @8 AM and to check on my other complants, such as clicking noise, Global window open & closing not working all the time, Battery not being able to get a full charge and I'm going to ask if they will change the Auto Door Locks (for Free) to when you put it into gear instead of when it reaches speed at 15-MPH. ROB281 Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Actually just got a letter from Ford admitting they screwed up on this, and that I can come in to get the correct shift knob installed 1 erichFla reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 25, 2013 I was going to bring that letter in to my dealer so they could take care of it while they still had the car, but they traded it off to another dealer less than a week after they got it. Hope the new buyer is OK with the car.

GrySql Report post Posted April 25, 2013 Our car was delivered in December and we still have not received a letter about any of this. Have owners of more recently built cars received letters? When you had your car serviced a few days ago they should have run your VIN number. The VIN produces an OASIS Report and on that is a section called "Outstanding Field Service Actions", your car should have "Number 13B03, Install Leather Shifter Knob" in that section. My car was delivered 12/12/12 and I don't have a letter either but it's on my OASIS Report.Use your VIN to look at your Etis Report, it should be outlined in pink on the left-hand column. 1 keybman reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted April 26, 2013 Mine was delivered day after Thanksgiving, so it may be that they are sent out in order of purchase.
DeeCee Report post Posted April 26, 2013 I never got a letter. I told my dealer about the 13B03 notice on ETIS. He later called me back and said he had ordered the correct shifter for my car and a few days later it was received and I had it installed.

I was just curious about how quickly Ford is sending out the letters and if maybe I'll never get one since mine was replaced before it was in OASIS I have not received any letter... for the dealers that ask why Ford doesn't notify them, we've seen discussion about commodities/constraints regarding the sales guys, aren't there similar bulletins that go out to the service guys? Obviously there are for recalls, I assume there is also info on TSBs, but not so for these types of issues? Maybe there's a dealer rep around here from the service side that can fill in the blanks on how that process works... 1 hybridbear reacted to this
