Wrong Shifter?

Recommended Posts

I know there have been Zone Managers that have notified Ford of the issue. My dealer pulled their cars and put the correct shifters on the cars.

It goes even higher, I know that the Fusion Marketing Manager knows about this and is instigating a fix.

However, last Thursday my Dealer apparently found the only one left in Ford North America and ordered it for me.

Supply and hybrid part number confusion is a problem with this new vehicle.

The S, SE or Ti non hybrid shift knobs are not the same, the eCVT HF35 transmission needs a special shifter.

Hopefully it should be installed this week.

I went to my dealer today - they wouldn't accept a photo... The one thing that they did was take a photo and tell me their parts system shows its the correct shifter. I told them to look at the Ford website and get into contact with the Sales Manager who wasn't at the dealership yet. I'l hear from them soon.

I found a better dealership.

As mentioned before, tell them to look up the part number that Ric posted earlier in this thread, worked for me. CJ5Z7213FA

Good luck finding one though.

Edit: My new shifter is awaiting my arrival on Thursday, it's on the Service Managers desk.

My new leather shift knob is installed, I like it!
Simple install, the assembly only has two Allen set screws and two wires.
Go get yours replaced.

Some have said it didn't make any difference to them so they weren't going to get theirs changed. I had mine changed because I wanted what I paid for.

Oh yeah that looks nothing like the one in mine!

That's exactly the same leather shift knob the dealer installed in mine. Said it was suppose to be there from start.

Spoke to the parts guy at my dealer today, he is trying to confirm the part number I have gave from this forum is valid and will definitely work in my car before committing to order. Hope to hear back from him soon. I really like the look of the correct shifter and getting what I paid for is important but not urgent.

Ours is also the wrong one. I never would have noticed were it not for this thread. Thanks everyone. I'll contact the dealer on Monday. Hopefully by now this is a known issue and it will be easy to get mine fixed.

You better hurry they are going fast. From what I'm hearing Ford substituted shift knobs on a lot of cars. The picture you posted is the neoprene molded shifter that comes standard in the S and SE.

I went to the Twin Cities Auto Show last night and checked out the cars on display there...the C-Maxes (built in Michigan) have the correct shifter knob. The Fusion Energi Titanium on display also has the correct shifter knob. But both Fusion Hybrids (with the 505A package) did not have the correct shifter. Neither did the SE Ecoboost Fusion with the luxury package. I asked about it to the Ford employees on display and no one had heard about this issue. Both reps from Ford Corporate and from my selling dealer didn't know about it but they said they will look into it.

I kind of expected that Ford would get the cars that they have on display fixed, but I guess not.

Guess someone forgot to tell someone else that the Luxury package is supposed to have the leather shifter too.

Hope you didn't get the ambient lights... I'm a little annoyed about that one myself.

I do agree, I'd want it if I should have gotten it.

I'm supposed to get a call from Ford within two business days to schedule my replacement.

Time will tell whether this pans out or not.

I finally got called in this afternoon to show the area rep what I had. My sales woman went through a bunch of crap for me and she was finally able to get it pulled together. I'll report back if/when the change is made.

So in order to put the proper one on your car, they are taking one off of a car sitting in a big lot in Hermosillo... cars which will sit there until the individual shifter knobs from various dealers make it back there to put onto the new builds... just kidding. I hope.

I think Ford made a big miscalculation on how many buyers would choose the Luxury Interior option. I think they focused on the existing hybrid owners, most of whom don't care about leather. I'm sure Ford is very happy with drawing in BMW, Mercedes, Audi, etc owners, but it appears they were not prepared for it.

I wouldnt want a car without leather. I like at how easy it is to keep clean, especially with kids.

Strange, just looked at the window stickers on several 505A hybrids, none state leather wrapped shift knob, just the leather wrapped steering wheel.

The window stickers don't, but they are part of the 505A pkg. When I first went to the dealer to tell them about this they pulled up the actual factory build sheet which showed the leather wrapped shift knob. We then went to the lot to look a car and they said, yep you didn't get the right shifter knob.

Anyone having trouble with getting the right knob - ask your dealer to pull up and print the car's build sheet.

Got a call from my dealer today, the correct shifter is in stock and I have an appointment to get it swapped tomorrow morning on my way to work.

Got mine swapped! Took them 2 hours... The dealer said Ford doesn't recognize the mis-build despite what it says on the website. They're going to claim it under warranty.

Do you like it?

I like mine, sort of brightens up the center console a bit.

Umm I can't say that I either dislike it or like it... I was used to the hold shifter. The silver portion looks a little large for my taste and would have looked nicer a little bit smaller. Either way glad to have gotten what's been paid for :)

Got mine installed today. When the service manager first showed it to me out of the box, I wasn't sure I would like it. But once on the car, I agree with GrySql, it brightens up the center console.
