Just ordered a 2013 FFH Ti yesterday

Recommended Posts

Hello! Just wanted to post in the welcome sub forum. After having a pretty sour experience with a dealership near me a few weeks ago, I finally made my way to a larger dealer in my area and placed an order for a 2013 FFH Titanium. I'm hoping the delay rumors are just rumors and I get it sooner than later, but I'm not holding my breath.:) I ordered it with out any options although I was on the fence about the sunroof and the nav package. I decided against them as I don't feel the sunroof warrants the extra cost (current Jetta has one, it's nice... but rarely use it. Plus I would rather have a pano-sunroof like the Lincolns so maybe in the future that will be an option on the next purchase). I have heard more complaints on the nav package than praise, so as much as I would love to have built in nav option... I left it off. Can anyone defend the nav feture and convince me other wise? I'm sure I still have time to convince the wife (beg/plead) and update the order.

I am excite.

Welcome -- yes it is a pretty competitive area I guess... I helped a friend buy a car from the 'big' dealer in Fairfax and told them I was getting ready to order... 2 days later I gave my specs and asked for their best price on a retail order, was $1,700 higher than I got down south closer ro Richmond, so that was well worth the drive.

Hrm, I never thought about Richmond as an option. I hate "working" dealerships so I hope I got a fairly decent deal and the dealer treats me with a smidgen of decency.

They seem to have no compunction in 'working' me.

The vent function of the Moonroof is what I feel make it worthwhile. You also get the garage door functions with it, which I feel is even more important. Being able to control three different gargages allowed me to enter my sister's condo in San Clemente, which is our primary vacation spot.

As long as you limit the amount of times you try to use the Voice Commands for the Nav, it is a very good system.

Just watch out for the off interstate routes, it will take you to places you have never been to before or ever want to go to again! It will also sneak in a ferry or two.

True -- be sure to set your nav to avoid ferries, unless you really want to go on one. I actually took my 2010 on a Ferry from DE to NJ a couple years ago and after checking in was sitting the car waiting to load, changed the 'avoid ferries' setting on and off and reculculating route, I think it was a 150-mile difference... so unless you are planning a ferry ride on the trip, turn it off to avoid the need for an unexpected ferry ride... or lengthy backtrack if the thing's not running.

Oh, man, when I drove to FL, it showed an alternate route to "save gas", unaware there was a Ferry involved we took it, and it was raining, and got very dark, and suddenly, the road was GONE, and there was the Ohio river! Talk about a WTF moment! LOL Made for an interesting trip though.

Bah... That's really the only reason I want the moonroof, being able to vent is nice. As for the garage door opener... Would be nice... But I'll prob get one of those wifi connected openers that has an iPhone app. Thermostat is already wireless with an iPhone app, so why not!

On the other hand I've always wanted built in nav that is seamless and reasonably reliable... But in 2013 it still seems like a distant fantasy. How often does Ford update the firmware/software (not map data) for MFT and/or nav?

I don't think Ford has a standard update schedule for MFT. Personally, I wouldn't want to fumble with my phone to open the garage. My last half mile of travel home is non-stop with the garage door becoming fully open just as I pull into it. A slight look up at the visor to make sure I press the right button is all it takes. Of course, I could just have the remote control clipped to the visor, but that's so 1990s.

Fine... You've convinced me lol. I emailed the dealer and asked if I could add on sunroof and nav. :)

I think you will like the sunroof on a hot day. press and hold the open button on the key fob and all windows roll down and sunroof vents. I also like it on warm days where driving with the windows open at high speeds is annoying, just vent the roof and roll the two rear windows down an inch and you stay nice and cool

The sunroof will take away some headroom. If you are tall, sit on a car with one before you order it.

I agree, that's how it is on our Jetta, we were just trying to convince ourselves we wouldn't need it... But I think we would miss it if we didn't order it. Also, sorry to hear all the troubles you have been having! Hope everything works out.

The SE I test drove had it and I was fine. I'm 5'10", king of the manlets!

I have the built-in garage door opener in my 2008 Taurus. Problem though is that when I set the opener to work with the built-in then the push button unit outside the garage door doesn't work, different frequencies. Does anybody else have that problem?

After some research, I'd be interested in hearing from anyone using a Liftmaster 8550 with a 2013 Fusion.

Modern garage door openers use rolling security codes. Every time the control is used the transmitter and the receiver go to the next code. The transmitter that wasn't used doesn't advance and will no longer operate the door unless it is re-synchronized with the receiver. There is no provision to have multiple transmitters operate the same door. It might be possible to put a second receiver in parallel with the first one so each transmitter could have its own receiver.

That is not the case. I have a new garage door opener and I have it synced to my car, the outside opener and the two hand held units. They all work the opener. I've not had to re-sync any of them.

I have a 2010 and a 2013 with sun roofs. I'm 6-3+ and have more headroom in the 2013 than the 2010.

There certainly is more headroom in the 13 than the 10.

As for the garage doors, sometimes adding a new transmitter can wipe out the original settings, and both need to be done at the same time. All depends on the model. I have 2 Genies, both are screw drive, and both setup differently.

Soooo... Is the universal remote with the sunroof actually universal or only works with select openers?

The manual says the car opener works best with Homelink.

it will work with 90% of the garage openers installed, and should work with all new openers.
