gimmieMPG Report post Posted January 29, 2013 All the ford dealerships in town were sold out of the fusion hybrids. So I test drove the 1.6 fusion and the C-Max so I could see how the power felt. I was surprised that the hybrid was far superior over the 1.6. I just want to get the opinion of FFH owners and what they think of the performance. I am not expecting to take it to the race track, but can you pull out into tragic without the worry of being rear ended?
acdii Report post Posted January 29, 2013 Its OK. I havent driven one with 17" wheels, but the 18" wheels improve handling quite a bit, and it does have pep. It drives the same as the Cmax.
Klstaack Report post Posted January 29, 2013 I have the 17 inch wheels...it drives great. More than enough power. And I'm getting 47 mpg. 2 Steve and coach81 reacted to this

lmp180psu Report post Posted January 29, 2013 Definitely sufficient power in pretty much all situations. I really like the eCVT transmission. Merging onto the highway feels safe and smooth too. Only area where it seems to struggle slightly is going up steeper hills but still not bad. I agree that it felt better than the 1.6.
acdii Report post Posted January 29, 2013 Well, the one thing I am glad about is the concern over the 18" tires not being fuel efficient, and so far, that has been a false assumption as those whose cars actually work properly and have these tires are getting good MPG. They do improve handling on the cars quite a bit over the smaller wheel size with larger sidewalls. The handling between the 2010 and the 2013 is like night and day. It helps a lot when you hypermile too as you can take turns faster and not have to slow down as much.
B25Nut Report post Posted January 29, 2013 If the 17" low rolling resistance tires get the same MPG as the 18" Goodyears, what good are they? I still think we're losing 1-2 mpg with the Goodyears, but I feel they are worth it.
acdii Report post Posted January 30, 2013 1-2 is nothing when you consider the handling improvements. So far traction has been much better with these tires than with the Michelins on our other car. I'll take 1-2 MPG fewer for those two benefits. Then again I would be happy just seeing 40 in mine, hasnt happened yet.
hybridbear Report post Posted February 5, 2013 Power is plenty sufficient. The eCVT works smoothly. The car had plenty of power driving through the mountains on our trip to Cali. 1 coach81 reacted to this
