GreenAussie Report post Posted January 24, 2013 Hi everyone. I have been reading this forum for a while and since my new Ford Fusion Hybrid is arriving soon, I thought I should join. In late November I placed an order on a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE with just about all the bells and whistles except the auto parking option (Not much use for that). My car is in the dealer now and I am picking it up on Jan 26th. I am very excited in trying out all the new technology and hopefully getting good gas mileage. My old C class could barely make 29MPG (sticker had 26 Highway!), so I hope I can at least get in to the 40’s with my driving once things break in. B25Nut Report post Posted January 24, 2013 GC, welcome. I think one of the best signs for Ford is that BMW and Mercedes drivers are picking the Fusion Hybrid as their next vehicle. I sent an idea to one of Ford's ad agencies back in November for a commercial that would have a middle-age couple admiring a white BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Lexus parked together. As they walked by each one, their price and MPG would be displayed. Then a white Fusion Hybrid would pull in next to them. As the driver gets out, the camera would flow through the car to show its interior. The couple would look at each other with the expression of "Yes, this is the one". Then a Porsche Panamera would pull in and they would smile and say "Maybe one day". Then a Prius pulls up and they say "No way".
camelot Report post Posted January 24, 2013 Porsche had a commercial on their website a few yrs ago like that. It was a young boy who stopped by the dealership on his way home from school. He walks in and starts checking out the car. When the salesman asks him if he can help him. ( Knowing he's way too young) The boy says, I'll see you in a few yrs. GreenAussie Report post Posted January 25, 2013 Hey B25Nut, Love the concept ;). Actually I have owned Audi’s and MB’s for the last 13 years, but the main reason I bought them was for the technology. I had the opportunity a while back to provide feedback to Audi and explained that I wanted was their more fuel efficient engines like they have in Europe. But almost all of the luxury brands are only putting hybrids on their massive gas hogging SUV’s to get an extra 2MPG, what’s the use in that? The fusion has all the technology that I have in the C class and will get close to 2 times the MPG. Bet yet, it looks great!

gimmieMPG Report post Posted January 28, 2013 This is my first post in this forum. I only ordered my Fusion Hybrid a week ago and I am going crazy. I think I have read all the articles and seen all the YouTube videos but I wanted to hear news from people that actually have a fusion or maybe waiting in the same boat as me. Can anyone tell me what they have been getting on average MPG? Some of the testers are saying the hybrid gets closer to 38-41mpg. I am really anxious so I hope I get mine in the next 6-7 weeks. B25Nut Report post Posted January 28, 2013 If the majority of your driving is above 70 mph, you won't get over 40 mpg. If you tame your driving habits and keep it closer to 65, you'll very likely see 38-42 mpg. If the vast majority of miles are at 60 mph or less, you'll see 44-50 mpg. Many trips of ten miles or less on cold mornings can be very hard on your lifetime average. Since you will be seeing warmer weather in AZ sooner than most of the country, you're going to do fine in the MPG department, so don't worry about it. You've made the right choice and you won't regret it.One unknown so far is how much air conditioning in 95-105 degree weather will decrease our MPG, but that affects any car. I agree with the numbers that B25Nut posted, provided that the car is working proper.y - if you've browsed around and seen posts by acdii, I think there's a problem there beyond just driving in cold weather (his car also didn't do well in Florida). Anyway, my experience in the 2010 FFH showed that really hot weather with 90+ each day and lots of humidity would mean a similar MPG hit as the cold weather. I don't know how 100-110 in low humidity would compare, but unless the temps get really hot or really cold, I think B25Nut's numbers are a good estimate. gimmieMPG Report post Posted January 29, 2013 Thanks, it helps a lot when you hear from actual people that drive them.
jeff_h Report post Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Thanks, it helps a lot when you hear from actual people that drive them. Well if you click on my signature link it will go to my fuelly page... first tank was 46 MPG where the weather was good, and I may not have gotten the tank filled all the way. Next couple tanks were cold weather, and still got 40MPG, so I'm OK with that, and had two around-town trips today and they were 48 and 50 MPG, but it had warmed up to 50 degrees. And once you are on an individual's fuelly page, you can scroll down a little further and click the link for all Ford-Fusion-2013 and get the list of all who are tracking and filter down to just hybrid engines. Looks like the vast majority are getting around 38-40 MPG, I'm happy with mine thus far. Edited January 29, 2013 by jeff_h
