Klstaack Report post Posted January 16, 2013 Has anyone noticed if the sound fades in and out on the radio. I tend to only notice this while listening to FM radio. I tried to tighten the antenna but that didn't seem to help. I just have the standard sound equipment with my ford touch. Also in my ford touch is an icon supposed to appear next to the home button indicating what you are listening to...indicating fm, Sirius, ext. I notice it is sometime but it's not always there. Attached is a bad picture of what I am taking about. Just wanted to see if it was common or if you think there is a problem. I might just being overly critical since its a brand new car. Would like to hear your thoughts before calling the service department.

Klstaack Report post Posted January 17, 2013 Thanks. I made a service appointment for Monday. Hopefully they will hear what I am hearing and not think that I'm crazy.
DeeCee Report post Posted January 17, 2013 Not sure if it would help but there is a sound setting in MFT for speed compensated volume (owners manual page 358). I have not done anything with this particular setting but you might want to call it up and see if anything there might help you situation.
hermans Report post Posted January 17, 2013 I have mine set at 6. It works well.
Klstaack Report post Posted January 17, 2013 I have that setting turned off. So the volume should be staying the same. I wonder if it has something to do with the noise canceling that is going on. Maybe I should try to turn that feature on.

Maybe I should try to turn that feature on.By enabling that feature and setting to what ever level you want the radio will maintain the sound level. I set both my 2010 and 2013 at 6. I may set it lower in the 2013 as it it much quieter. When the interior noise reduces, the radio will return to its normal sound level.
terryb Report post Posted January 17, 2013 I haven't found anything in regards to the active noise control except for a fuse that powers being listed.Anyont hhave more information?
B25Nut Report post Posted January 17, 2013 There has never been a problem with my sound, but I've been surprised at how course the volume adjustment is. I don't really mind it, but the amount of change from one click of the knob is more than most other modern audio systems.
Klstaack Report post Posted January 18, 2013 I tried the auto adjustment and it still fades in and out. I think it's not getting a strong signal or a connection is loose somewhere. Does anyone notice if the antenna icon stays illuminated while listening to fm radio. Should be right next to the home screen...for me it is either not there or flashes. I'll be showing them this picture when I drop it off for service.
coach81 Report post Posted January 19, 2013 If it is flashing... something may very well be wrong w it.. good luck! 1 Klstaack reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted January 22, 2013 Does it only do it with FM? Sounds like a loose antenna connection to me.
Klstaack Report post Posted January 22, 2013 I took it in and they looked at it. They said its working the way it was designed to. I guess it's probably a coase of it just sounding different than what I was used to in my old car.
bwheetley Report post Posted January 30, 2013 If you have the HD radio, it may be the HD signal going in and out. Try turning off HD to see if that's it.

Why is that? The other audio settings are not gray.
acdii Report post Posted April 17, 2013 Is the radio on when you try it? Seems strange that would be grey, but it might tie in if the radio is off. I think I ran into something similar on radio settings when I tried it with the radio off.
