acdii Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Broke my 2010 today during lunch. Was going around a store to get back on the road, and as I got to where to turn, realized too late that it was a sheet of ice, and I was going a bit too fast. Slammed into a curb and broke the left rear wheel bearing. Rim held up though, only has a slight dent. Car just left on the hook 20 minutes ago. :( Think I hurt me too though, getting twinges in my neck, arms and lower back. Grrrrrrr. Waiting for the Aleve to kick in. neod192 Report post Posted January 15, 2013 Oh no!!! Glad you're OK. The car will get fixed ... I'm not sure if it's bad or good that it's not your 2013. On one side it's a brand new car, so you don't want any accidents in it and on the other it gives you crappy mileage, so who cares :-p

I broke my left front wheel bearing on the 2010, but wasn't as heroic as you were, I just took mine in for a state inspection and they found it... but nooooo you gotta go overboard... but be glad this happened on your 2010, as if it happened on the 2013 the dealer might think it's deliberate! terryb Report post Posted January 15, 2013 (edited) Parts for that area might be difficult to get for the '13 at this stage of the product year. Edited January 15, 2013 by terryb
pers69 Report post Posted January 15, 2013 When I first read the title to the thread I was confused ... why would the internal combustion engine lead to problems with turning? Don't get much ice ice down here in Florida.
camelot Report post Posted January 16, 2013 Getting dumped on tonight with ice and snow. Not cutting through any store parking lots! Got off an exit and hit ice once. steered it into the guard rail and snow bank to avoid hitting cars stopped at bottom of ramp. Got hit by next 2 cars coming off! Eh, it was a chevy anyway. 1 acdii reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted January 16, 2013 Good news is insurance covered the tow to the dealer 100%. Should hear what the repairs will cost tomorrow. Bad news is, starting to feel the whiplash from hitting the curb, our necks are a bit stiff on the right side.
