fusionTX Report post Posted April 10, 2013 The color is so close to the cars Tri-platinum white as to not be noticeable. I'm very happy with the overall workmanship.I have to say that the shape and contours of the Sharkfin II gather light differently than the flat roof, therefore there are shadows or brighter hints on it than the roof.I held it next to the FFH's door when I first received it because I too was wary, it looked the same as the door color and that was that. Edit: It sounds like I'm selling these things but am not. I like mine, YMMV.Thanks. The Sterling gray, like the black and platinum white, seem to sparkle in the sunlight. I noticed this the other day at a dealership that had a lot of fusions in different colors. You can see the different pigments in them, which is why I was wondering about how closely matched the fin antenna would be. It makes sense that in the light is where the differences would be noted. Finis. :) 1 hybridbear reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted April 10, 2013 So on a new car - that hasn't been waxed yet - you just need some alcohol to cleanthe area. Nothing to be stripped off I guess. I guess even with cold/rain/sun thisisn't going anywhere. I ordered mine and doesn't seem hard to install at all. Will just measure the heckout of it as us geeks aren't always the best at these mechanical tasks :) Will have to rely on my wife's eagle eyes. She can spot a crooked linefrom 10 miles away... I think the HyTi already has a shark fin antenna, see Neod's pictures

neod192 Report post Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) I think the HyTi already has a shark fin antenna, see Neod's picturesHermans is right on this one. That first pic is from when the car first showed up on the lot and wasn't prepped for delivery. It comes with a stick antenna, and I'm thinking about ordering the shard one. Right now, price is the only thing holding me back. I have to take more exterior pics of it in daylight and add to the album ... This rain isn't helping (but we really need it) ! hermans Report post Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Ya, your wheels still had the plastic on them. It's neat you got pics before it was prepped. The dealer called me and said my car was on the truck and on its way to them. The rail yard is only 14 miles away. I got to the dealer in time to see the truck pull in and I got pics of it being unloaded. Edited April 10, 2013 by hermans

hybridbear Report post Posted April 10, 2013 My bad. I thought in that pic that the base was different from what we have on the SEs and I thought in pictures of gas Titaniums there was no whip

GrySql Report post Posted April 11, 2013 The screw-in antenna is 10", can't measure the base because it's covered now.
Riggo Report post Posted April 11, 2013 Wow, that is much longer than I thought. Why would they put such a cheap looking antenna on such a beautiful car. I may have to look into the shark fin.
smr2112 Report post Posted April 27, 2013 I did my Sharkfin install today and have to say it was very easy to do, if you we're thinking about it, I recommend it.The appearance improvement is great. To install, I made a square cutout that was easier for me than just the tape. I tapeed this cardboard cutout and could tweakit in to place. Once stuck, it sticks like iron and will not move. only mistake I made was leaving about 2" of backing I missedin peeling off, but I got it off with a piece of plastic and had no issues sticking it. Will not move and reception is fine. evenwashed and waxed car after with no issues, that thing ain't going anywhere. With that square cutout image, the Sharkfin fits perfectly inside and not possible to move or shift. With just the tape as inthe instructions, it seemed like it could move too easily while trying to stick it. 2 Fastronaut and GrySql reacted to this

Thanks for the photo.
smr2112 Report post Posted April 28, 2013 (edited) Yes exactly that. Is a prefect square that the sharkfin fits inside exactly and will not move.Position the frame over the antenna base exactly and eyeball it. Then secure with tapeand put sharkfin inside for final position. It will not move and then I removed backing to attach the antenna.I cut the frame using a piece of stiff cardboard and a T-Square and pencil. Cut it with a drop bladeso it was perfectly square and then square a piece at the back to lock it into the frame. With tape alone as he instructs, it just felt to me it could move too easily at the last instant.Probably depends on the tape you use, but the tape I had was slick and the Sharfin slid offit too easily. Worked great and I highly recommend it.Really makes the look of the car. Here is the final picture I just took. The color match was dead-on exact. I think I read it is painted by a body shop so it should matchand hopefully it will last too. The guy who makes these clearly knows what he is doing. If you're thinking about this thing, it really is very easy if you take your time. Then put sealant onthe car afterwards.
