wmpwi Report post Posted January 13, 2013 I've seen picts of the roof mounted antenna and I've seen some without. What's to be expected on the 2013 Fusion Hybird with the 505A interior option, MFT tech package, and nav? I've seen nothing to indicate why some do and some don't yet. pers69 Report post Posted January 13, 2013 My bet is it is there. Haven't heard or seen one without it IRL. I think they just removed it at times for "cleaner lines" photo PR shoots.
jeff_h Report post Posted January 13, 2013 Here is what to be expected from a 505A, MFT Tech Pkg, and Nav -- yes there's an antenna, I think it's the exact same type as my 2010 had.
GrySql Report post Posted January 13, 2013 This the antenna my '13 has, looks the same as Ruby B's.
wmpwi Report post Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) All they spent on restyling and that's the best they can do. I have to say I love the look in photos like this that show it's not there , but I'll deal with that issue if it still bothers me a couple of months from now. As it stands, I ordered in mid-December and haven't even gotten my vin yet. Edited January 13, 2013 by wmpwi
pers69 Report post Posted January 14, 2013 Seen some straight forward mods to swap out the whip antenna for a lower profiled fin type. Despite reassurances of fine signal clarity ... I value function over form in my antennas and would require more research before swapping out the stock whip. 1 Scott Carlton Windell reacted to this

I value function over form in my antennas and would require more research before swapping out the stock whip. I would agree that it's going to be a individual choice. I'll probably go with the lower profile since I seldom listen to radio. Maybe it's my age, but most of my audio is books on 'tape' or stuff that doesn't get as much air time anymore. In my case, it's more form over funcion I guess. Remeber, it's better to look good than feel good, darling. cnsheets Report post Posted January 14, 2013 This is a great option. It has a built in antenna so no issues with reception. I have this for my 2011 Explorer which uses the same exact antenna setup as the 13 Fusion... They paint to match too. http://www.visualgarage.com/
wmpwi Report post Posted January 14, 2013 I like that look much better. A little pricey, but I can balance that against how much the other bothers me. I'll probably go with that one. Thanks. cnsheets Report post Posted January 15, 2013 It looks great, and best yet is completely functional. I have not lost any functionality, reception, or anything else with AM/FM, Sirius or NAV......And Like I said, you give them your paint code, and it arrives painted and ready to install....... Check this thread out on another forum for pictures and details. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312983
wmpwi Report post Posted January 15, 2013 That is nicel. Klstaack Report post Posted January 23, 2013 Has anyone put this on the fusion yet. Really interested. Would definitely give it a more high end look. But would want it to perform as well or better than the current antenna.
Fastronaut Report post Posted February 2, 2013 I like the look of the Shark Fin. Have there been any problems with the Fusion stock antenna in non-brushless car washes?

Fastronaut Report post Posted March 26, 2013 I asked for some additional information and note that there is some possible signal loss for AM/FM. See response: This new shark fin antenna was developed specifically for vehicles that have an AM/FM rear-roof whip antenna and a Sirius/XM/OnStar/GPS chip-set antenna integrated into the larger antenna base. Our Mark II antenna will allow you to replace the whip portion of your AM/FM antenna and cover the entire large antenna base on your roof to give it a clean look. Installing this antenna will not hinder the operation of your Sirius/XM/OnStar/GPS chip-set antennas that are integrated into your antenna base, however, it may be possible to notice a slight drop in reception in AM/FM especially when listening to stations that are located further away or stations that have weaker signals. Please click the following links for some sample pictures of our new shark fin antenna: http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_VG_SFA_MKII.html
acdii Report post Posted March 26, 2013 Since I no longer listen to AM or Sirius, and the one good FM station is fringe, guess it wouldn't matter much to me. Only thing would be the GPS and travel link.
