acdii Report post Posted January 9, 2013 While not a Fusion but a Cmax, this doesn't help. http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/2-000-mile-ford-c-max-hybrid-road-204605768.html
coach81 Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Good article... obviously the MPG fiasco is becoming more and more documented.. Again.. If I can approach 40 mpg.. I will be happy with the vehicle. If I ever get it...
acdii Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Be confident, the new Fusion takes some getting used to. Even with a sick fuel system starting to get 40 MPG. It is all in how you drive it.
fusionTX Report post Posted January 9, 2013 I am not surprised at the numbers obtained on a fully loaded car during a 2,000 mile family trip.I drive from Houston to SW Florida twice a year. This past November the car was pretty heavy, the weather was cold, and of course, I always go 75 to 80 when I can.I was barely getting 30 MPGs on my 2007 Camry Hybrid.Towards the 2nd half of the trip MPGs crept up to about 33 MPGs, if I recall correctly.Return trip (with a bit less of a load and warmer temps) I did about 34 MPGs.I will be (pleasantly) surprised if i get much better on the Fusion. The nice thing about the Camry is that I have a 16 gallon tank. So only two stops for gas for an 1100 mile trip, and I basically arrive with a full tank.I hope the two stops for gas continues to be the case with the Fusion's 13.5 gallon tank. HenryVIII Report post Posted January 9, 2013 Author fails to mention speed. Loaded the car completely up too. I'll give him some credit that it should net a little better than what he got.
ChuckJ Report post Posted January 10, 2013 Reference the article posted by ACDII written by Neal Pollack, it seems strange, his fuel history shows great results for all the driving except the first 5 minutes. If you average what showing it would be more like 44 and there may have been some idling for the first 5 minutes, yet the average shown on the right indicates 33.5. acdii Report post Posted January 10, 2013 he should have switched it to the 30 minute display to me more accurate. There is also mo mention of gas records and calculations. If going off the dash, and not doing resets, it takes vary little to drop it down, takes a LOT of effort to get it back up after a good hill climb.
