jonessoda Report post Posted December 31, 2012 I posted on the regular Fusion forum, and I just found this one! Anyway, for those who didn't see the post over there, I have a '13 hybrid. I look forward to hanging out with other hybrid folk and telling stories of the slow lane. :P For anyone curious, I did remove the hybrid badges, as well as all of the badges on the trunk lid (with the exception of the Ford emblem). 1 coach81 reacted to this
Allegany Report post Posted December 31, 2012 I think you should have left the Hybrid badges on the car. First responders are trained to treat hybrid badged cars differently due to the high voltage battery should you be involved in an accident. This could create a hazardous situation for them. acdii Report post Posted December 31, 2012 Good point, never gave that much thought with these cars. Thankfully the safety systems lock down the battery pack in the event of a crash, but there is always that small chance of power getting restored to the drive train which can cause serious injury if a cable gets cut during extraction. I know why he removed the badges though, going from a Mustang to a Hybrid can be a bit embarrassing. :) J/K 1 jonessoda reacted to this
fusionTX Report post Posted December 31, 2012 Great looking car! Having trouble deciding on a color. Think the platinum white is really classy looking, but is it worth $500?Congrts on your new purchase.

I can see that, but I'll leave them off anyway. The real kicker would be if I went and painted all of the bright orange high voltage lines black. The Oxford White is just too plain for me. I think a classy car like this deserves better. Welcome to the site. Great photo! What camera did you use? Thanks! I shot this with a Canon 5D Mk III and a Canon 70-200 f/2.8L II.

B25Nut Report post Posted December 31, 2012 The White Platinum is definitely worth the extra money. You're reminded of that each time you look at it in bright sunshine. It looks like a jewel.

jonessoda Report post Posted December 31, 2012 For a while when I had a *gulp* Prius, I had a bumper sticker on it that said my other car is an F350 Diesel and it was true. My other car is a 1978 Chevy Malibu wagon with a built 350, so I still have my ozone killer. Everybody's taste is different. I don't want a white or black car. I feel ya! I've owned one black car in my life, and I've sworn that it will be the last. I love the look of them, but they are impossible to keep clean! Out of colors I have seen in person, I really like the Ruby Red, Deep Impact Blue, and and Sterling Grey. I would have been happy with any of those colors, but I found one in Platinum White with the options I wanted so I pounced on it! 1 acdii reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted December 31, 2012 The only downside of the tri coats are the repairs are extremely difficult to get done right. There are 3 layers of paint, base coat, pearl coat and clear coat. if the base and pearl aren't applied just right, they show up and look bad. That goes for any color tri coat, and why there is a premium to get it. They look fantastic, but just hope you never need to get a repair done to the paint. hermans Report post Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) The first and only black car I owned was a 68 KR500. I did have a 2002 Mercury Sable for a company car that was black. You couldn't keep the car clean enough for me. Edited December 31, 2012 by hermans

jonessoda Report post Posted January 2, 2013 Welcome to the family!!! Great shot of your baby!!! Looking forward to swapping stories... if mine ever comes in... Thanks! Did you ever try looking in dealer stock? I test drove one with almost the exact option layout as the one you ordered right on the lot. 1 coach81 reacted to this
coach81 Report post Posted January 3, 2013 Thanks! Did you ever try looking in dealer stock? I test drove one with almost the exact option layout as the one you ordered right on the lot. When I went in to order.. they had NO STOCK.. none.. not even a regular SE... they still don't have any hybrids on the lot to this day...
jeff_h Report post Posted January 3, 2013 When I went in to order.. they had NO STOCK.. none.. not even a regular SE... they still don't have any hybrids on the lot to this day... I guess maybe it's about "who you know" when it comes to dealerships? I plan to stop by my dealer again this Saturday, will have to take a pic of the row of Fusions that are now there... 4-5 hybrids and I think about 10-15 non-hybrids. The Ford site says there are '40' available but many of those are still in dealer-ordered status.

jonessoda Report post Posted January 7, 2013 I like the wheels. I am trying to work something out with my dealer to swap out the stock hybrid Ti sparkle, sunburst, bicycle wheel wheels. You can order the 5 spokes through the parts department, that's what I did.
pers69 Report post Posted January 7, 2013 Yea - went by and spoke with them about this on Sat. The $250/ wheel price is reasonable ... just leaves me with what to do with the stock Ti wheels. That is what I was talking with the sales guys about ... whether they would keep them and credit me (put them on some other Fusion on the lot etc). The parts manager at the dealership said he can't or won't buy back the stock wheels .... only the sales folks could do that as part of the purchase deal. Not terribly excited about listing and shipping the stock wheels on eBay or Craigslist myself - though I might resort to that.
HenryVIII Report post Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) I like the wheels. I am trying to work something out with my dealer to swap out the stock hybrid Ti sparkle, sunburst, bicycle wheel wheels. I can't stand the Standard Base Titanium wheels. Seriously they want you to upgrade to the 19s! I do like the black Luxury 18s. Perhaps look into that if you don't want the 19s. Since you're in FL you can rock the 19s easily. Edited January 8, 2013 by HenryVIII
