2013 My Ford Touch and ebay Navigation cards

Recommended Posts

I haven't been able to come up with a definitive answer on whether the SD cards for sale on Ebay will actually provide Navigation on My Ford Touch units that didn't have it from the factory. I've heard it will and I've heard it won't.

Has anyone actually tried and either bricked their My Ford Touch unit or found that it worked like a charm?

If it did not come from the factory with NAV, simply purchasing a NAV card will NOT give you Nav. Nav has to be activated at the factory. This is confirmed by Ford.

Only option to add Nav if it did not come from the factory with it, is to add an aftermarket system that uses the stock touch screen.

I can tell you my 2013 Fusion with Sony MFT had the "A4" Nav sd card in the slot when I drove off the lot. I was told I had Navigation, and the card and its packaging where in the car. The card does nothing, and now the salesman says that if it does not say it has Navigation on the sticker, it does not have it.

My sense is that it is all the same hardware, but a bit has to be flipped for $795. That is ridiculous since Nav software can be had on hardware for $100 and less then $50 on an iPhone.

So unless you know how to flip that bit, the cards would be useless to you. If you do know, won't you tell us how?
