Thumb Drives ?

Recommended Posts

Never used a thumb drive before to store and play music. The FFH has a USB slot inside the armrest for this use. I was told it is more practical than a CD changer. The new FFH does not have a CD changer? Any info on this subject would be helpful. What type of thumb drive should I buy? As you can see I don't know a whole lot about it. Must be I'm a baby boomer.

Just about any USB would be fine unless the manual says otherwise. When I was doing sync updates I had an issue getting the USB to be read at first, I had to reformat the USB as FAT32 on my home PC and then it worked fine. This was on my 2010 FFH, no idea if the 2013 model would also need a FAT32 format I don't know, but there is a fordsyncforum.com that has a lot more of this type info.

Still uses FAT32. Just rip the music from CD's to MP3, and copy them to your flash drive. You can use Itunes to do this, and download the itunes sync app to format the files so Sync can read them correctly.

We picked up a super small 32 GB drive - have one in my upgraded Saturn VUE stereo as well. Link to the drive we bought below:

Sound from the USB sounds better than when the same song is playing via BlueTooth from my Samsung tablet.
