Downpayment Increase while FFH Delayed

Recommended Posts

As of 11-7-12 I have saved an additional $250.00 for my downpayment while I wait for my vehicle to be "processed". I will update in the coming weeks, months, years??? Let's see how much more I can save up for my downpayment until I finally have my '13 FFH.

Saved to date- $250.00

i was hoping just to save enough to keep a reasonable lease payment but past my goal and now thinking about having the dealership rerun the numbers on what a 60 or 72 month purchase would be vs the 36/39 month lease. although still like the idea of in 3 years turning keys over and getting a new one.

Never been a fan of "always having a car note"... I've really enjoyed having no car notes for the last few years.. thus why I'm trying to save best as I can to pay this one off as fast as possible...

that is where I am torn. I had bought my first new car back in 2001 before that was all used cars paid in cash. I paid off my 2001 early and no car note since but seemed like everytime a warrenty ran out on something I would be paying repairs. So part of me really likes the idea of staying under warrenties and when they run out i get a brand new car with new warrenties. And sorry to go political but with 4 more years now of Obama's energy policies 39 months from now it might be nice to grab a brand new top MPG plug in hybrid by then.

OK, here's a funny one....the Fusion Hybrid is my third choice in cars. My first choice was/is a Chevy Volt, second choice is the Fusion Plug-in Hybrid, and the Fusion Hybrid comes in third.

Two years ago, when the economy tanked, my wife lost her job and was unemployed for almost a year. I took a 15% cut in pay. We lost the house, declared bankruptcy (chapter 13) etc. Since then, things have turned around. We increased our payments to the trustee and will pay 100% of what we owe, and, now are in a position to replace my '03 Taurus with 195k miles on it.

So, for the funny part, I found a good deal on a 36 month lease of a Chevy Volt. I figured that since my credit was "bad" I would pay 100% of the lease UP FRONT (approx $15k). Due to my bad credit, they would NOT lease to me...they did however, offer to sell (and finance) the car....go figure....

I'm paying cash, so my limit was $30k. That puts me in the FFH, but not in a Volt or Plug In FFH. Who knows, I may trade it in a few years for a plug in, or, if someone comes up with a Plug-in SUV, I'll get that for my wife....

Wow Red, thanks for sharing your story and grats on your financial recovery!!!! Wife also lost her job a few months ago but now has another. Through hard work and planning we are now debt-free. Thus why I will bust my tail to pay this car off ASAP!!!

If you had ordered a couple months earlier, you might have the entire sum saved up by the time it gets from Hermosillo to Flat Rock to you!

From what I've been reading, I may very well STILL BE WAITING in a couple more months so I may have it yet!!!
