cajodhya Report post Posted November 3, 2012 I am so glad I decided not to get these options. Agreed. Personally, I like to drive my vehicles (not the other way around) in comfort but without all the lights and overdone "safety" technology crap. IMO, these issues come with any major re design especially as a first year model. Hopefully Ford pays attention, as lessons learned on the new FFH will translate to the energi next year. Way I see it they have one chance to get it right or they (as an American manufacturer) will be behind the ball on the alternative fuel races to the foreigners. terryb Report post Posted November 3, 2012 I've requested all the bells and whistles and now I'm concerned about delivery delays. Makes me wish I'd settled for the MFT, NAV and handsfree tech I could have had on serial number one C-max at a local dealer. TerryB
coach81 Report post Posted November 4, 2012 I'm still glad I ordered mine with the lane keep, and driver assist.. I just hope they work correctly...
B25Nut Report post Posted November 5, 2012 The dealer that said there was a two month delay called me Friday and said they just got the Hybrid I wanted on their lot. My guess is since this particular one didn't have the options that gave the NY Times trouble, Ford decided to ship it. I can't pick it up from the dealer until Nov 16 (for still unclear reasons, which also applies to the 2 regular Fusions on their lot) but it is now mine! So in two weeks I will be giving you all a report.
darrel.e.wise Report post Posted November 5, 2012 I just got a call from Ford Customer Service regarding my 2013 fusion hybrid. Ordered back in June. Built on October 5th. Ford Socal Media rep kept telling me it was waiting for transit and to check back next week because Ford only updated the information once a week. After 4 weeks of "awaiting transit, check back next week, I called Ford Customer Service". They got back with me today. There is a "stop ship" order on my fusion along with 19.999 others. Asked if it was a headlight issue I have heard rumors about and he said he wasn't privy to that informtion. I now have a case number and an "advocate" to keep me informed of the progress of the repairs and the shipment. So much for Hermasillo being a high quality production facility. B25Nut Report post Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) I got a call from my dealer in the San Fernando Valley Wednesday and I was able to pick up my Fusion Hybrid yesterday. Everyone on this board is going to be very happy when you get your vehicle. When I pulled into work this morning, the first question was "Is that a BMW?". In my opinion, any concerns expressed in the reviews are non-issues. Brakes are great, trunk room is very good, no problem with front end clearance, etc. The Sync and MyFord Touch are easy to use. Any feature that is different (like the turn indicator) is easily adapted to. I had to drive 205 miles to get the car, so I had that amount of time with my Fusion on the drive home. I drove it aggressively after the first 30 miles and was at 73 mph most of the time, even up long, steep grades (I don't use speed control). This was hard on the mpg: I only got 32 mpg for the trip. This was disappointing, but the car only had three miles on it and I'm sure needs some breaking in. It appears the green leaves don't like speeds over 65 mph. The car is very quiet, even when the engine was working hard going up steep grades. Regular acceleration is good, not great, but acceleration at higher speeds is very good. The key takes some getting used to. It is narrow and knowing the right orientation for inserting it doesn't come naturally. The windshield wipers are hinged at the outer edges of the windshield and keep it entirely clear except for the area behind the rearview mirror. Their offset motion is surprising at first. Mine is White Platinum with a Dune leather interior, with the Luxury and Technology package. I also got the Moonroof and the Luxury wheels. I highly recommend all these options, especially the wheels. I will have a lot more to say early next week. I have to take another trip to So. Calif on Monday. My only real complaint now is I think the Owner's Manual is poorly done. It has very few pictures and seems to have been written by Microsoft with an almost useless index. jeff_h Report post Posted November 9, 2012 Hey congrats on getting your new car! On your observation about the owner's manual, I have yet to find one that seems like it was done very well... however if you go to motorcraftservice.com and use the link on the left named "owner guides" you can download a PDF version of your owner manual. I much prefer this as I can open the file and just Ctl-F and find the search term that I want, kinda bypasses the strange logic that the author(s) may have used in the manual. terryb Report post Posted November 10, 2012 I got my VIN and a build week of 12/3 this morning. I'm hoping that means there won't be any built in problems coming from Hermosillo, so as to have a normal travel/distribution time. TerryB

So Oct 9th.. it is now Nov 11th... guess I'll just have to wait until at least the end of the month to hear anything on my order.. *sigh*..
terryb Report post Posted November 11, 2012 VIN IS 3FA6P0LU9DR191529 and scheduled for week of 12/3 so you should be able to envision our relative positions on the Hermosillo line. TerryB
bankyedwards Report post Posted November 11, 2012 well if we assume they build them in order of Vin # i would be 2328 ahead of you. Guess tomorrow I'll call my dealer see if they have a built date listed? All they gave me Thursday night was the Vin they said then they didn't know build date yet. coach81 Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Ordered 10/26 still nothing but "processing" here.
jeff_h Report post Posted November 12, 2012 Ordered 10/26 still nothing but "processing" here. That's two weeks after my original order, which is scheduled for the week of Dec 3rd. Hopefully you will get scheduled for the week or Dec 10th or Dec 17th, as the plant is closed during the week of Dec 24th. On that letter from Ford to their dealers on the Fusion delays it said they aimed to have all backlog of inventory to dealers by the end of December. If this holds, true, hopefully they'll have things caught up at Hermosillo by early December and you will get a build week of Dec 10th... let's hope! SteveR Report post Posted November 14, 2012 Hi Everybody!!Have had my '13 Fusion Hybrid for 7 days now, Platinum White and Loaded with everything.Love the car. Still figuring out how to get best mileage....slowly creeping up but after 6 daysof driving on the first tank of gas, I'm averaging 28.0 MPG and thats 90% city driving so far,not thrilled with that as I've been driving fairly conservative. Hoping it improves. IF any onehas some tips or whatever, please feel free to let me know how you are getting better MPGs.Happy driving,Steve
terryb Report post Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) Hi Steve, My advice to you is 'use the cruise control' whenever save to do so. Generally speaking, unless the car has something on its little robot brain like heating up the pollution controls or cooling the battery, this should put the instant mileage reading North of 40 mpg. With my '10 on my 4000 mile road trip in August I got up to 43 mpg tank averages backed by tank fill quantities. Anxiously awaiting my '13 for the gadgets. salprint Report post Posted November 14, 2012 Didn't get my Fusion yet, but I've had my C-Max a couple of weeks and at the beginning it was around 28mpg also. Now I'm up to 40mpg. I've kinda learned to drive better than I used to. You almost have to imagine that there is an egg between your foot and the accelerator. If you need to accelerate faster, because of traffic or whatever, then do so, but once you get to your speed that you need, go back to feathering the pedal. Also, I think my car was driven by the dealer when moving it around the lot, so when I got it, the overall gas milage reading was very low. I believe there is a way to reset it, and then you will be able to see what you do per tankful. I was reading the manual today, and it has something to do with holding the ok button on the steering wheel to reset. I was going to try it later today when I leave work.
