jeff_h Report post Posted July 31, 2012 I got a tax credit for 2009 when I bought mine, but I'm afraid those have all since expired... not 100% sure, but pretty sure that the only thing that now qualifies are EVs - I see notes of $7,500 for full electric or $3,750 for plug-in hybrid, but note that this is ONLY from what I see on the build & price function, check the IRS web site for details and you can find various press releases that should cover which credits are in effect and when. jsamp Report post Posted August 28, 2012 Yes, the Hybrid tax credit has expired for Ford. They've sold more than the max number of (std) hybrids and no longer qualify. They reached that threshold back in early 2010. The new tax incentive is for plug-in vehicles (both BEV and PHEV). It is pro-rated based on the battery size. The Energi gets $3750, the Plug-in Prius $2500 and the Volt and other BEV's get $7500. The formula is something like this: $2500 base line for 4kWh batteries and below, plus $417 per kWH above the 4. So the Energi's 7kWh battery is $2500+3*417 = $3751 (I guess they round off?)
