DVD Player Bypass.

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the pin out or the process on how to trick the DVD player to think that it is in park for the use of playing a movie while in motion?

Planning a long trip and the girlfriend wants to watch movies...lol!

Any help would be appreciated!

I am really looking for this information as well. I need to be able to both stream video from my phone onto my screen while it is in drive and play videos while the car is in drive. The A/V is completely useless to only use while the car is in park.

Did this for an aftermarket system in a Ram 1500. The aftermarket system had a detailed list of which wires were for what purpose. Also, the repair manual for the truck was immensely helpful. In this case it was connected through the steering column and we spliced in a hidden toggle switch to make it think the vehicle was in park.

May be worth waiting for a repair manual instead of ripping wires out unless someone is already tinkering with their wiring systems.

When you say stream video from the phone to the screen, what do you mean and how is that different than playing videos? You can only watch video on the screen through the A/V connection in park. Are you talking about wireless/Bluetooth video streaming? That's not possible.

I understand your desire to watch videos in Drive, I'm just confused about the streaming part :)

There currently isn't a way to stream anything as of yet. But you can connect your phone to the car via mini USB to RCA then stream from your cellphone.

By streaming I am not referring to the Bluetooth connection. I am able to stream NFL games, music videos, movies, etc. onto my phone but I would be hard wiring that to the AV inputs of the car. Just looking for a inexpensive way to bypass the park block. I am having this done in about 2 weeks by a friend of mine as not being able to watch video while in drive is really annoying. Additionally, while I am working with the wire kit for the bypass, I will be replacing the bulbs for the DTR to a white LEP light. HID kits are over priced, doing this yourself is not that complicated and will produce excellent results. I will post pictures of the video while in drive as well as the new headlight bulbs and explain as simplistically as I can how to do this.
