how do I remove trunk lock cylinder?

Recommended Posts

I need to switch trunk lids and want to keep the lock cylinder that matches the doors. In the old days, you removed a little metal clip that held the lock mechanism in place. Not anymore. My 2009 Fusion has two odd looking nuts that hold the mechanism in place. There is a threaded stud in the middle and it does not move as I turn the nut - yet the nut doesn't loosen. I'm thinking that maybe these don't need removed and there is another way to replace the cylinder. Anyone have any knowledge on this topic?

I guess by now you've taken the problem to the dealer, a body shop or a locksmith and have a solution. Please post what you found.
