Headlight rubber thing

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I just installed HID's and obviously the piece of rubber that covered the back of the light housings isn't going to go back on. Are they really needed? When shining a light into the front of the housing barely any light comes out the back so it doesn't seem like condensation will get in there too easily. Anyone had any issues with leaving these off?

I lost my passenger one and didn't think it would be an issue but on moist days my headlight lense did get about 1/2 foggy so I ordered a new one from the dealer for $8.

When I installed my HID's I just put a small slit in the bottom to allow the wires to run out. Since I put the plug back on I have not had any moisture in there.

So long story short...slit the bottom and put it back on.

Thanks, I figured that's what I'd need to do.

I cut a small hole through mine for the wires to run through, seems to work fine, I'm guessing you did something similar.

I cut a slit out of mine for the wires on the passenger side. But the bulb stuck out too far past the housing so I had to put another slit in the middle to allow the bulb to poke through. The rubber piece didn't seem to stick on securly so we'll see how long that lasts.
