Steering wheel audio

My Volume buttons on the steering wheel r going out. Anybody ever had that problem and also how much to repair if u did?

I had a 2002 Lincoln LSE and had a very similar issue. Along with the volume controls on the steering wheel not working the horn worked intermittently and for some reason the engine temperature gauge would show a reading of overheating. It turned out the clock spring was the culprit and once changed out all those issue were resolved. From what i recall it was around $200 with parts and labor at my local mechanic. Good Luck

+3 on the clockspring. The clockspring controls all of the current going to any steering wheel components that need power, such as the audio controls and (more importantly) the airbag. If this is indeed the culprit, you should fix it ASAP as it is a safety concern (bad clockspring = no airbags).
