winter rim and tire pkg

finally decided to pony up and get winter rims/tires. according to the ford dealer i need 205/60R16 tires and the OEM black steel rims plus the tpms sensors. the tires they offer are the firestone winterforce or bridgestone blizzak. the previously mentioned plus installation plus tax (13% - ontario) comes to $1300 and $1430 respectively. this seems to be an outrageous price and can probably get the same pkg at tirerack for half price but would probably be dealing with border issues as the original wheels have to come home with me. would appreciate any input from members from the southern ontario area that have dealt with this issue.

I kept it simple by taking advantage when I bought the Sport last year and got the free winter tire package from Ford Canada.

 

I have been looking for tire package for my Pilot. I did buy Pirelli winter tires off of Kiji. Put them on my OEM wheels. Now I have time to look for summer wheels w/ TPMS.

I've ordered from tirerack before and had it shipped to Canada - it still ended up cheaper than the dealer or any local shop. It was funny to see the UPS guy rolling the tire up my driveway. If you were going to ship them to a US postal box/or pick up at a tirerack depot and then transport them over, you won't have issues if you pay the required duty (depending on where they are made) + taxes. If you try to avoid that you might find your car being seized :)

I hear Costco has ok prices for tires too, if you are a member or know one.

Erinwood Ford quoted me $925 complete Firestone and rim winter package, taxes in and installed/balanced, but no TPMS as my 07 SE didn't come with them....
