Priorities: Nav. vs. New

  1. 1. I already have a plug in GPS, so is the Nav worth it?

    • Yes, its awesome even if you already have a GPS because...
    • No, if you already have a GPS your $ is better spent elsewhere
  2. 2. Would you go w/the 2010 or 2011?

    • 2010 -- because
    • 2011 -- because
    • either -- because ..
  3. 3. If you had to pick between the 2010 w/nav and the 2011 w/out nav, which would u pick? (because the price is about the same)

    • 2010 w/nav
    • 2011 w/out nav
    • 2010 w/out nav (i know, i am cheating)

    • 2011 w/nav (see above)

I have a Garmin GPS. I use it all the time but its always becoming a projectile while driving and it has once been stolen out of my car and had to be replaced. Anyhoo, I am in the market for a Fusion Sport and have gotten quotes on 2010 and 2011 models ... the price on the loaded 2010 inc Nav is about the same as the 2011 w/everything but Nav. I am aware of Sync my ride which I thought would take care of my GPS needs till I was told you have to put directions into your computer before you leave the house, plug them into Sync and can't change them while driving... kinda like having someone next to you reading you your directions. That won't do. I am debating w/others. My hubby is driving me crazy to get it citing the projectile thing, the stolen thing, and the voice activated thing. But he isn't the most practical dude around. I keep saying for that money I can just buy a really nice plug in and mount and still come in way under the around 2k cost of the Nav. Everyone else agrees. My hubby pointed out the whole 2010 w/nav is a little cheaper than 2011 w/out nav. I was wondering which way to go. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

The 2011 has a newer version of the stereo with the HD radio that the 2010 does not have........if that is something of concern for you.

I wouldn't pay $2000 for navigation, things break, and you can just throw away a GPS that fails and get another one. Imagine your Ford navigation failing and trying to repair that after warranty, or when they deny warranty coverage. Personally, my phone has awesome navigation, with all the up to date traffic delays.

You can probably get a good deal on a 2010 as opposed to a 2011. If you buy it to drive for a long time, the 2010 seems a better choice given a lower price that you would pay. If you will sell it after a few years, a 2011 would have a better resale value that a 2010 model. The 2010 & 2011 models are both great cars, and either one that you choose will make you happy. I would definitely get a 6 cyl though, it is such a smooth engine and the power feels nice. The small benefit of mpg that you get with the 4 cyl is not much of a difference.

Good luck.

I don't think this is true. I think you can call and get new directions at any time. You just have the option of doing it on the computer. But yes, it does read the directions to you since you don't have a map.

Also remember that you get a nice touch screen interface that controls everything including Sync, so it's a little more than just nav.
