Replacing tail/brake/turn signal/backup lamp bulbs

Recommended Posts

Tonight, I had to get to the backup lamp bulb on the driver's side of my Fusion as it no longer illuminated. I thought I was going to find that the bulb needed to be replaced, but found that it illuminated when I wiggled it in the socket. As far as that goes, it is working now that I have put it back together. I'll keep on eye on this to see if it goes out again.

The reason for my post is that I found getting to the bulb not so easy. Of all the vehicles I've owned over the years, this is the most difficulty I've had getting to bulbs at the rear of a vehicle. Even after reading the user guide, it was not as easy as I would have expected it to be. I am not a fan of the Fusion's access to the rear bulbs.

I am wondering what others might have to say about their experience if they have had to replace rear bulbs in their Fusion.

I still love driving my 2010 Fusion!

Just changed mine, I replaced the 4157K witk 3157LL (Long Life) 2 watt less, the socket was burned due to the high wattage and heat generated by the krypton bulb...

Once I realized that it was a matter of pulling the piece of carpet away it went smoothly but I agree they could be more accessible..

3 year for a turn light replacement is not great not bad either but I have never replaced one on my previous car (camry) but this could be simply

a question of bulb model.
