Will antenna snap off during Car Wash?

Recommended Posts

Aside form potential paint scratches (as described in a separate thread), will a $4 automatic car wash at the Kwiki Mart snap off the antenna on my new 2011 Fusion SEL?

It got filthy on it's maiden voyage (lots of bug splatters from the drive down the shore), and it's already time for a wash.

Thanks,

Mike

It won't snap off if you unscrew it. It should only be finger tight.

The car wash will not damage the antenna; it's quite flexible. You don't need to remove it.

A coworker has a CRV with a similar antenna and she assured me that it's car-wash safe.

I went through the car wash today to remove the dead bugs from my maiden voyage on Saturday.

1. Antenna was indeed fine.

2. Car looks soooo nice.

3. No detectable scratches.

I went to "white glove car wash". They have two guys with scrubbers to scrub/pre-wash, then it goes through the automatic part with the flapping cloths.

So far, the ford tri-coat white seems more durable than my silver subaru tribeca which scratched if someone even sneezed nearby.

Irony: they offer $2 wash and everything is ala carte. If was very affordable.

BTW, I did skip the towel dry part at the end based on the comments here about any dirt on the cloths being ground into the paint.

Thanks All,

Mike
