2011 Sony 12 speaker system

I just got my 11 Fusion Hybrid fully loaded on Saturday. Love the car.....and the Nav/sound system is fantastic. Glad I waited for the 11 to get the HD radio feature.

 

Does anyone know exactly what all 5 speakers in the rear window deck do. I get great sound from all the front and the rear doors, but hardly hear anything coming from all those speakers under the rear window. I turned it up and put my head in there and hear some sound from the middle speaker under the back window, but virtually nothing from the large speaker grates on the sides. Are the sub-woofers back there? Did they leave the back window left and right sides unplugged?

The 2011 should be like the 2010. If you turn the key to on, with the radio on AM or FM press and hold the 3 and 6 radio station preset "hardkeys." Hold for about 3 seconds and the sound system will go into speaker "walking test mode." You might want to try this from the back seat so you can tell which speaker is beeping or booping. There are some other tests available, but they all look lame.

Thanks Mort, the test worked great and did show all speakers are working. The subs just do not have much ooomph to them unless you turn the bass up a little. Also, after the speaker test runs the full menu shows up so you can pick any of the other "lame" options.

I just purchased a 2010 Fusion SEL built in late June with Moon & Tune. I have not been happy with the sound system, the center front speaker drowns out the side speakers so there is no stereo effect at all. I tried the "walking test mode" described by mort and it said I had 9 speakers, LFW, LFT, CF, RFT, RFW, RR, CR, LR (all of which gave a treble sound, not particularly loud) and SBW which gave a loud bass sound. I have turned up the bass three notches and moved the sound halfway to the back, and it is better but still not ideal. Any suggestions?

Change the surround sound to stereo..

Thanks, mettech; it is set to stereo. In fact, I don't think I have the surround sound option. I moved bass up one more notch and and adjusted fade one more notch to the back and it seems to be getting better. I'll keep experimenting.
