carltj Report post Posted August 21, 2010 I am vaguely aware that carbon can build up in the cylinders, if the driver does not occasionally floor the accelerator and rev up the rpms. I am also aware that I never do that, being a conscientious hypermiler. Are others seeing this as an issue, and if so, how are you managing these crosswise purposes?Carl
lolder Report post Posted August 21, 2010 (edited) Carbon deposits are seldom a problem with modern oils and unleaded gas. Don't worry about it. Also, this engine is close to "floored" a lot of the time by the control computer. It's just at low rpm. Pressures and temperatures are high in the combustion chamber. Buster1 Report post Posted August 21, 2010 Pretty sure that's an old holdover from the days of carburated engines.
