ZAKTEK

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a 2010 fusion on saturday, i got talked into ( read as the misses sitting next to me thought it would be "good" ) a ZAKTEK plan.

Has anyone ever used this?

Does is work, did i get taken, I know there are products at the store i culd have used "Zaino" etc that are nearly the same thing from what i understand.

FWIW for those that dont know its a "paint treatment" that has to be applied every 6 months, and is "bulletproof"

It's not better than any other paint protection and no, it's not bulletproof. At best it's just a good wax substitute. At worst - it's worthless and the dealer will scratch your paint applying it.

I sell Ford's and have for a numbr of years now and there are many different paint protections out there of varying qualities. I have never heard of this one, and none are bulletproof but some do a very good job of protecting against nicks and scratches. The part that concerns me is the fact that thye say it has to be re-applied every 6 months? The product we use at our store has a lifetime warranty against rust and corrosion and just has to be inspected once a year.

Do you have to pay for the re-application? Because if you did I would say you got "penetrated" IMO

No paint protection lasts a lifetime. Even the best stuff needs to be reapplied periodically.

Sorry didn't do a great job of explaining. It usually needs to be re-applied periodically but the point I was trying to make was that every 6 months seems way too quickly to me.

6 months seems about right depending on conditions. I don't think anything lasts more than a year under normal conditions.
