Our family is loving the new 2010 Fusion we picked it up 3 weeks ago. A sudden inability to use the USB port has me wanting to make sure I haven't missed something obvious before I bring the car in for a service call.

I've been making regular use of the USB port to play music from a USB stick as well as to charge my iPod Touch. There have been no problems whatsoever until yesterday when I tried to play a recording from the iPod for the first time. When I switched the input to USB, the radio displayed a message stating "USB Empty". I verified the connections to the iPod and in the armrest (how awkward is that by the way?!?!) but still got the same message. Tried to connect the USB stick again to confirm that was working but no luck. :-(

I was able to confirm the 12 volt plug worked by charging my cell phone but not able to test the line in yet as I do not have a device with the proper input cable hanging around. I've reviewed the car's manual as well as the supplementary manual for Sync with no success. I have also reset to factory defaults and again had no luck.

Any other suggestions that I have missed?

Thanks

G

Mine stopped working after using it twice. I have not had time to schedule the service, but I have confirmed with two phones, an iPod and a USB stick with the Sync update software, that the USB port does not work.

My USB port quit working after i upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS4. Here is a run down of my post:

USB problems

In my case, removing the SYNC module fuse (#13 in the fuse box below the steering wheel to the left ) got things reset.

It worked fine for about a week and I had to do it again. Lots of discussion about the USB port not working after the iOS4 upgrade over at syncmyride.com.

Not sure if this will help you but I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks
