Order Placed!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, so after calling my dealership and talking with the guy that actually orders the cars, it turns out that the salesman that I had been dealing with was not correct in saying that we could order a 2011. So, he put in our order for a 2010. Now it's time to wait for the order to be confirmed. Anyone have any idea about how long that usually takes once the order is put into the system??

Here's what we ordered:

2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Rapid Spec 501A Package

Navigation System

Remote Start

All-Weather Mats

Light Ice Blue Metallic Exterior

Charcoal Grey Interior

Can't wait to do the whole waiting process. I'm actually looking forward to hearing back that the order is confirmed, getting a VIN, production date, etc...

Thanks for all the help that everyone has given me in the process of deciding what to buy and helping with other questions...made the whole process much easier!

Congrats!

I wish the "ice blue" exterior was available for non-hybrid models. I think that's a nice combo, light blue with charcoal interior.

I don't know how long it takes for everything you asked but I myself am going on 9 weeks now and I expect I may have my car late next week or the following week.

Mine is ice blue metallic with the light interior.

Charcoal Gray cloth interior is mostly black and shows every light colored piece of dirt.

In years past, I used to order cars, but no more. I got "screwed" twice on an ordered car (see below). Now, I only buy from stock. If I can't find the car I want in stock, I don't buy.

1. Ordered a car and when it came, it did not have the "standard equipment" that all the brocures said came with the car. The manufacturer has an out because brocures always say words to the effect that production changes can be made at any time. (If I refuse the car, the dealer keeps my deposit).

2. Ordered a car and when it came it, there were two "imperfections" or defects in the interior. Dealer says that they will take care of it under warranty, so I take the car. (If I refuse the car, the dealer keeps my deposit). Dealer never could fix either of the imperfections. I did a fix myself on one of the problems, not a great fix, but something I could live with, and the other imperfection just stayed that way.

I've never ordered a car since, and never will. I only buy out of stock, look the car over carefully, important to drive it first, never buy sight unseen as that is what you are doing when you order a car, or have a dealer get a car from another dealer. Dealer has your money and knows you are not going to refuse the car because of the deposit you left with them.

(Something I just thought of - what happens to your deposit if the dealer you ordered from goes out of business, which happens often these days????) :finger:

Wow...some really negative responses to my post. I've got total confidence that Ford will deliver the car with the options that I've ordered since they won't change the production job again before the 2011MY begins production. As for the defects on the car you ordered, I'm sure you could've gotten a new car ordered or your money back if they weren't able to fix the problem. No dealer that wants to stay in business would force a customer to buy a car that has defects...it would ruin them. All the customer would have to do is threaten to get the media involved and the problem would be solved.

Anyways, anyone know how long it usually takes to get a DORA after the order is put into the computer?

ctrcbob,

If you're that unhappy with any vehicle you ordered, or made a deposit right on the lot for that matter, simply don't take delvery of it. if you don't take delivery it creates a legal quagmire for the dealer and he cannot simply "keep" you deposit. Once you officially take delivery, the vehicle is yours and all repairs etc are considered under the warranty policy. By not taking posession of the vehicle, the car remains the property of the manufacturer or the dealership and both will work hard to complete the transaction and make you happy. Not taking delivery is in fact the BEST thing you can decide to do, especially if the problems noted are more serious in nature. (If it's a quick fix, then turn that around and tell them you'll take delivery when its completed then.) Had I ordered a car and it came with less standard equipment then was advertised in their brochure, I too would consider that to be a serious breach of the deal and might walk away from the car too. The dealership would likely refund your deposit within 30 days (if not much much sooner) as the longer they held onto it would cause them all sorts of problems. No dealership wants an unhappy customer, nor do they want that unwanted vehicle on their lot or inventory either. As long as you refuse official delivery, trust me, YOU are definitely in the "driver's seat." If you do take delivery of a vehicle with flaws or needed fixes, make sure you get it in writing on the spot just what will be corrected, how and when too. Only then should you make the vehicle "yours."

Just out of curiosity, what "standard" items was your car missing when it came in? Are you sure you interpreted the sales brochure correctly?

sullied,

Please do post some photos once you get your new car. Did you get leather seats?

I will definitely post some photos of it. I'm most excited about the odometer photo when I pick up the car...never bought a brand new car before! Although I expect that there will probably be a couple of miles on it from loading and unloading the car for transport.

I didn't get leather seats. I'm not a fan, overall. They bother me in the summer when the sun is shining. Aside from that, I try to be eco-friendly as much as possible and leather isn't exactly green. I'm sure someone will have the argument about the battery not being green, etc...but that's just my opinion.

Just to give you a bit of balance; I've spec. ordered cars twice from different mfgrs (not Ford) and they were delivered precisely as requested. Hopefully this will be your experience!

Nice choice of the Ice Blue!

Sullied: The Dealer should be able to get your DORA, real quickly. The VIN will take a couple weeks, that 's not created until you car is scheduled for production. I got my car to central VA in (6-1/2) weeks, from the day ordered, but that was in January. Mine came just as ordered. Hybrid -only option: Remote Start. Good Luck.

I'm thinking that I will call the dealer this next Friday if I haven't heard from them about the DORA yet. I'm counting on my car taking 12-14 weeks to deliver...based on the latest info that I've seen in fleet bulletins. There's a couple of weeks that the plant will be down and it sounds like they've had a flood of orders. I can't wait to have a VIN and a window sticker to look at!
