Snowball 2010 Report post Posted April 21, 2010 can some of you post up some pics of white fusion with painted calipers :party2: thanks, highway Yo hi Highway, how's it going? Let me tell you, I wanted not only painted calipers cuz they look nice but I want to change all my brakes for Brembo high performance brakes. Originally I wanted Bear Brakes like the Corvettes, Ferraris etc. but Bear does not make them for the Fusions only Mustangs. Any who, it's quite pricey to redo your whole brakes just for looks. So check these links; http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/results.jsp?autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Fusion&autoYear=2010&autoModClar=SE Brembo brakes will cost you not under 3,500.00$ on the net, your second option are caliper covers from MGP at 230.00$. http://www.calipercovers.com/_e/gdept/01/Ford_Passenger.htm Check out the pics and videos. I personally think that the painted calipers will not last and will not look as good. My strategy is, for now I will get the caliper covers very soon and once my rotors need changing I will have put aside enough money to change all my brake system for a Brembo system. Let us know what you decide and post some pics.
Rodeo Report post Posted April 21, 2010 (edited) WOW! I like the covers! Anyone know if the $230 price is for each or for a pair? I think they come in Black or Red. I think the price is each, and that's a little pricey if you ask me. For a pair it would be a decent deal though. Rodeo Report post Posted April 21, 2010 I sent them an email asking if its for one cover, of for one pair. (I have a good feeling it's for one single cover - in which case I won't be buying them.)
Rodeo Report post Posted April 21, 2010 Good News! I emailed them and here's there answer about the $230 price. "4 with the licensed engraving." So 4 caliper covers in either Red or Black with Ford logo engraving. I think I'll be getting a set in Black for my new Black Milan!THANKS for posting the link - very nice looking product. QUICK POLL OF THE AUDIENCE: 2010 Black Milan Premier w/ stock 7 spoke alum wheels. Would you put on the Black or Red caliper covers? Fuze-ion Report post Posted April 21, 2010 It really depends if you want them to stand-out or not. The Red will of course make them stand-out. The Black will blend with the car. I painted mine with some Heat Resistant Metalic Silver Paint, but they get dirty quickly, and then the metalic effect is lost.

It shipped from Mexico via rail on April 14th. I'll gladly post pictures once I take delivery though. This is what my wheels will look like except my car will be Tuxedo Black. acdii Report post Posted April 22, 2010 Any who, it's quite pricey to redo your whole brakes just for looks. It is worth it if you want great stopping power though. The Caliper painting kits do work well and last a long time since they are heat resistant. I whole lot cheaper too. For about $40 you can get a caliper kit from POR that will do all 4 wheels. Caliper Kit

The last car I had was green and i did the calipers in green metalic pearl, after paint I cleared them with clear engine enamel. One old hot rodders trick I picked up over the years is aluminun foil to mask off bolts. bolt heads, hoses, etc... as it will mold exactly to the piece. ...I have a white fusion and i'm thinking maybe red calipers ? Well Rodeo, given that the Milan is more classy and you keep it stock I would go black. If you add mods to it and make it a little more sporty I would go red.My opinion, either way I would put some covers. Regarding changing your brake system Brembo or Baer they best on the market and your talking of a major upgrade with high performance and top security issues. Remember these brake calipers have four pistons each c/w perforated disks. In normal driving conditionsimagine the safety and durability (mileage). DJE Report post Posted April 22, 2010 Rodeo-Nice wheels. I would leave the calipers alone. IMO painted calipers are ricey.
Snowball 2010 Report post Posted April 23, 2010 Say Rodeo, don't forget that the caliper cover are as functional as they are nice looking. The use of caliper covers are to protect your calipers from getting mud pebbles and dirt between your pads and rotors. 2nd it keeps the metal dust from the rotors from dirtying your rims. So if you want a discrete look, just get them silver.....now that would look snazzy. Keep us informed on your decision.

Because the pads are in contact with the rotor at all times, there is no way something can get "between your pads and rotors". And the brake dust is going to be flying around the rotor just like always.

I'll leave mine stock till they start to rust then ill prob use some vht caliper paint and go with black. The stuff is tough as nails if you bake it in the oven like your suppose to.
