Ipod question

Recommended Posts

Hello all, Need a bit of advice. I have an 06 fusion SEL with the 6 disc in dash changer and 6 speaker system. My questions are:

1: Is there an aftermarket plug to work with an ipod and the stock stereo? I know periferal makes plugs but they're a bit pricey and if I'm going to spend that much, why not throw my kenwood I had in my old car in it with ipod controls?

2: What year was it that they went with the usb jack in the center console? I'm wondering if a junk yard console with the usb cord will work with my stereo or is that more of a pain than it's worth?

3: If I go aftermarket, I know I'll need the plug/dash kit and will loose my steering wheel controls. I'm fine with that, but am wondering if there's an amp I'll need to by pass and if so, where is it?

Thanks in advance!

I don't want to do the input jack style. I'd like to have the option to charge it while it's pluged in too. Looks like I may just say fuck it and throw my old kenwood in there. I have the ipod controler and it worked like a champ for years. Tryin to keep it factory is not realy an option. Thanks!

I want to have a direct link. I want to eliminate fuz, tuning to an un used station and not being able to charge it. Going to car tunes to see what they say about if there's an amp I have to by pass or anything.
