FFHdriver Report post Posted November 13, 2009 I was not in the car. My wife reported to me that when she started the car there was a loud "pop" from the rear and the car shuttered. She first thought of some problem with the hybrid battery. No warning lights on dash and the dealer could fine nothing wrong. Hasn't done it in several starts since. Could it have been a detonation in the exhaust system? I checked and the exhaust system is still there. lol

When you started the car, it went into ICE mode, the catalytic converter lit off quickly with a puddle of gas in it, resulted in an audible detonation. There was a discussion elsewhere on this forum regarding if the fuel injectors are fully off in EV mode.

Oman Report post Posted November 15, 2009 The car wouldn't have shuttered - it would have collapsed :> If it was anything but some fuel buildup the car would not have shuddered. A blown cell in the battery pack would have been sensed pretty quickly.
