Valet mode is for when you are handing your vehicle over to someone such as a Valet, or garage. It locks out all funtionality availabale on the NAV. A great safety feature so that for example someone couldn't find your Home address if you stored it in your NAV.

MAX Air, is turning on the A/C w/ the Recirulation option that provides "MAX Air" or your A/C on at full blast.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

As I have read elsewhere, never put HOME into your navigation system. Use some other word or words.

There is a bit of extra functionality with "Home" on the nav system, and it is fine to use it on the built-in systems. You don't want to use it on the portable nav systems. The issue is someone stealing the portable units and finding out where you live. In order for the built-in system to work you need the keys. Whoever you trust with the keys you had better trust with your address because there is a good chance they already have it without bothering the nav system.

I was thinking of the guy who parks your car. He knows you're not home and his friends can find your house.

That's exactly what the VALET function is for.

But he could also look at the registration in your car and may have your house keys if you keep them on the same keyring as your car keys.

For portable units, they usually have a lock feature that requires a code to turn it on if you are not at the home location.
