Windshield question - 2006 Fusion

Hi, first post.

 

I just purchased an 06 Fusion SE V6, and am loving it so far.

My question is about the top of the windshield (exterior), where it meets the roof .... is there supposed to be a seal there ?

I have seals along both sides of the windshield but nothing along the top, is this a design feature so that it flows into the roofline or did the installer have a part left over !

My 2009 Fusion glass is the same way.

 

What I've been wondering is whether the 2010 Fusion, Milan and MKZ glass is reshaped or stayed the same dimension?

 

Reason being is the new Lincoln MKZ is supposed to have an acoustic laminated windshield with a layer of sound-absorbent vinyl between two sheets of glass.

 

So if my windshield ever cracks or chips, I'd consider spending more and get one of these installed.
