10,000 mile report:

I bought my FFH on April 11th this year and just this past week I crossed the 10K miles mark. My long term fuel economy has been 38.5 mpg. This was affected (negatively) by a Dallas-Toronto round trip at "highway speeds" (resulting in one speeding citation). The average for that 3500 mile round trip was 35.5 mpg. Have changed the oil twice in this time frame. The car has been absolutely trouble free.

 

So far this vehicle has exceeded all my expectations; and for us (wife & 2 kids: 8yrs old and 11 mo old) this car is a perfect family sedan. It is quiet and comfortable, has enough power, drives well, seats 4 comfortably, is very fuel efficient and looks nice. I also appreciate the technology features eg. the backup camera, blind spot info system, navigation, jukebox, sync and travel-link. I hope that blind spot info system becomes standard on all cars in the near future. I think that will help avoid a lot of accidents.

 

I am somewhat of a car aficionado and have owned Lexus IS250, Lexus ES 330, Lexus IS300, Lincoln Navigator, Mercedes C230 and Toyota Prius in the past 4 years. I can easily say that if FFH had a Lexus badge on its front grill it would sell for $42K+ and there would probably be a long waiting list for it.

 

I usually dont keep a car for very long but FFH is the first car in many years that I am content with and intend to keep for a long time.

 

Just this morning for my 18 mile drive to work I got 49.5 mpg. Not bad ...

 

Anyone who rides in this car with me is pleasantly surprised by everything. When they step out, they go check the back of the car to see if it really has a Ford logo on it.

Good report. My FFH is at 5500 miles...37.5 average. It would be higher but for the many short cold engine trips I do. Easy to get mid to upper 40's otherwise. The big surprise is how much I like the car. It replaced an '06 Mercedes C280 4matic. I don't miss it! My previous favorite car was an Acura TSX. Jamgolf's narrative has got to be sweet redemption for Ford and encouragement to those who took a leap of faith to purchase the FFH. In my case it was the first domestic purchase in decades, and I can mirror the tone of the post with just 2900 miles.

I'll be the fourth here to admit to being completely pleased with my Mercury Milan Hybrid. I'm on my third tank of gas with over 1300 miles and have a long-term average of 40 mpg. The Milan replaced my Infiniti and once again, totally agree that this car could easily be badged as any of the upscale cars.

We have put on around 8000 miles on our FFH, Getting around 38.9 mpg. Mostly because my wife's drive to work is hilly and has lots of stops. Sync some times does not always work as good as we hopped (her contacts on her phone are all screwed up and some of the mp3's don't have all the tags it needs) We had some weird rattling nose in the dash board at around 5000 miles but it has now went away. The car also seems to squeak when getting in and out. (Im only 200 lbs) but that might just be because we park on a slope)

All in all though we are really happy with the car. Its about time to take her in for her first oil change and wheel rotation.

 

I just went car shopping with my friend and every car we got into felt like less of a car than our FFH. I told him to get a FFH but he said he didn't want to have the same car as me!! haha (he went with a 2010 prius) It will be nice to race him when it comes in!

True, Cost was another factor. Even with the hybrid credit it would have been around 4k more..

 

Im hoping that the price for the 2011 FFH will come down. Ford could really have a Prius killer on its hands if it could get a version out at 25k

They're selling all of the FFHs and MMHs they can make right now. Why on Earth would they reduce the price?

Well they are only making 25k of each. If they want a mass market car they will need to lower the price.

It should be their goal to make a more affordable, mid size, high MPG car. That's where the market is headed. If they don't they will continue to loose market share and customers.

They're only making 25K because that's all the batteries and transmissions they can get right now. They're not artificially limiting production volume. If they can only make 25K then I ask again - why lower the price?

 

There is a market for cheap hybrids like the Prius and Insight but that's not as profitable and Ford needs profits right now. Maybe once we get a U.S. battery plant and unrestrained transmission source then they can expand the hybrids but not right now.

Do you engage the parking brakes when you park on a slope? It took me a while to figure it out on my 2005 Focus, but I noticed that it also squeaked when getting in and out. I realized that it was from the parking brake as I also park on a slope. I parked one day without engaging the parking brake, and sure enough it didn't squeak.
