Adding a tow bar

Recommended Posts

I know it seems ridiculous, but I might like to add a tow bar to my MMH for small boats or trailers (like for mowers, etc.).

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences. (Yes, I know my mileage will suffer :( )

From page 205 in the manual: "WARNING: Never tow a trailer with this vehicle. Your vehicle is

not equipped to tow. No towing packages are available through an authorized dealer."

No dice

Hi there

I checked out frame mounted trailer hitches for bicycle racks.

You can check out a frame mounted trailer hitch offered by hitchesonline - hitchesonline do offer a frame mounted trailer hitch for the 2010 Ford Fusion:

http://www.hitchesonline.com/

Most Ford dealers can install the complete kit for you (for a fee).

Another source may be JC Whitney.

Be careful...

The rear-end of the FFH is completely different below the trunk line than any of the other Fusions, parts wise. Most after market companies don't seem aware of this yet.

There is considerably more plastic under there to help with the aerodynamics. It is quite likely a hitch for a non-hybrid Fusion will not work on the FFH.

This is not a toe vehicle and you will probably negate any drivetrain warrantee if you put a hitch on it. Get approval from the dealer and get it in writing. Not even sure the CVT will respond properly to the added stress. Get a pick-me-up...mine is a diesel sucking F350. (save gas in one...burn the heck out of diesel in the other)
