apopilot77 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I started loading some of my favorite CD's into the 10GB hard drive. I noticed some of the CD's do not have cover art and album metadata. Any ideas why new popular albums would not have it? I am also using my ZUNE and IPHONE with no problems. I still would like instant access to some of my tunes via the built in 10GB hard drive. Thanks, Abe

Thanks, AbeThe Gracenote CD database is not up-to-date. I thought that loading Sync V3 would load a new db but it did not. I wonder how you can upgrade it? Mine is currently at 1055. sonex293 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I remember reading somewhere, I can't remember where, that the CD database is actually loaded on the Nav Data DVD and gets updated if you update the DVD every year. --Michael The Gracenote CD database is not up-to-date. kirkster57 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 My '07 Infiniti G35X had a hard drive based nav system and I could update the gracenote data for missing title by means of a file swap action. This was an .exe file you would write to a compact flash card from graenotes web site, run it on the card's hard drrve and extract the missing titles, run the info on the gracenote web site which woudl give you the titles and them download the data back into the car by means of the compact flash card. Should be able to do the same thing using a thumb drive & the USB port. I would expect Ford will issue a tech bulletin for that in the near future. sonex293 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I found this in the back of the 2010 FFH Nav System manual.... SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATESNAVTEQ offers system software updates for purchase. You can call 1-800-NAVMAPS or go to www.navteq.com. You will need to specify the make and model of you vehicle in order to determine if a map update is available. Updates for the Gracenote database (CDDB) that contain CD song/artist/title/album art are available. There is no charge for the data, however, there is a nominal shipping and materials fee. Mapping updates will be available yearly. Gracenote database (CDDB) database updates are complimentary when a map update is purchased. WPWoodJr Report post Posted June 9, 2009 I found this in the back of the 2010 FFH Nav System manual....--MichaelThanks, good info. I must admit I find the disconnect between Sync and the Nav system to be a headache that should be hidden from the customers. Why should you have to update things from different web sites? Another example is Sync V3 not working with the Nav system. Can you even imagine Apple allowing that to happen? Ford should do everything it can to provide a seamless interface. kirkster57 Report post Posted June 9, 2009 i reember that getting the instructions on how to do the file swap on gracenote was from an infiniti forum. you couldn't even find it on the infiniti owners web site, then about 6 motnhs later it appeared out of nowhere. As far as the disconnect goes I don't get it either. Seems as though they just try and fix it on the fly. Funny how technology works (or does it?). Thanks, good info. Waldo Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I think what happened is that Ford didn't really anticipate the enormous positive reaction to Sync. Originally it was planned to be rolled out slowly on just a few vehicles with low take-rates. But once it became popular, they decided to bring it into more vehicles. But they already had the Nav system development underway so they could only integrate it so much, considering they are different systems made by different suppliers.
