You got your build date before they had the week-long plant shutdown due to the flu outbreak. If the date slips again, I'd worry about scheduling problems, but getting pushed out a week at this point while unfortunate was unavoidable.

A lot of what you learn or don't learn about the status of your car will vary greatly with the CSR that you speak with. I've had them tell me they can't find anything, then it was built, then lost, then built and released. Then in Tuscon, but today it was back in production ... Arg it can be a bit frustrating, but figure if it has a build date, they will build it and actually ship it. From the information I have on mine, it was actually released on 4/21 and in Tuscon on 5/5 so I think it has got to have made some progress since then, but who knows. They could still be growing the rubber trees for the tires. :headspin:

It sounds like you have done a fair amount of calling. From my understanding, manufacturing info is only updated on Thursdays. Does shipping information update daily? svjim Report post Posted May 13, 2009 It sounds like you have done a fair amount of calling. From my understanding, manufacturing info is only updated on Thursdays. Does shipping information update daily? I really don't know how often shipping information is updated. I would have to assume that it is updated when ever a significant event occurs, such as being transferred from one location to another. I was told by my dealer that they receive a couple of messages telling them that the car was shipped and then one a few days before expected arrival. Now the last information that I have about my car is for May 5th which is a Tuesday. I think the whole reporting thing is probably event driven and as opposed to reporting only on a specific day of the week. This is all pure speculation on my part, but what I do know is that the quality of information you receive from Ford Care is highly dependent on the CSR that you talk with. What ever they do to check on the status of a car is obviously not very straight forward and some are just better at using the system then others. JimDuring production, you can only expect 3 or 4 updates. Once the car ships and enters the US, your dealer can tell you where the car is within a few hundred miles, since the system updates when the car passes certain points on the rail line. fsb99 Report post Posted May 14, 2009 Anyone know how long it takes for a car to be built? I guess by most accounts it takes anywhere between 18-25 man-hours but what does it mean in real time? My build date was 5/12. When do you think my "ready to ship" date is?

My build date was 5/12. When do you think my "ready to ship" date is? The dealer gave me a build date of the 12th and sent me more info from dealerconnection.com that showed my car was in production starting on the sixth (sent to plant), in the body shop on the 11th, and produced on the 12th. As of yesterday, its status was Awaiting Shipment. Hey, our cars share the same birthday.

I was under the impression that it is the day that the building begins. If I was thinking wrong, I'm pleasantly surprised and maybe see my car next week. CA VLF increase (~$180) starts May 19... I was under that impression too, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it was awaiting shipment a day after the stated build date.
Carnivore Report post Posted May 15, 2009 wow yet another twist. My dealer called and said they have the window sticker that came in saying the vehicle could be delivered to the dealer inside two weeks.
cuehara Report post Posted May 20, 2009 wow yet another twist. My dealer called and said they have the window sticker that came in saying the vehicle could be delivered to the dealer inside two weeks. Dealer just updated me with my car's location; a Norfolk Southern train passing through Kentucky.
