The Chad Report post Posted May 7, 2009 Hello all, Tuesday, I placed a deposit down for a FFH, 502A w/ the Remote Start (Black, Stone) and I have a few questions. First off, I'd like to say "Hello!" to everyone and look forward to hanging out here. To those who have taken delivery, are the power mirrors heated? According to Ford's website, they are only available on the Sport, but the website also has them listed as standard on the hybrid. Also, is there a way to track my order online? I do not have a VIN yet, but I have a copy of the order sheet from the dealer (including MSRP and "Invoice" pricing). Thanks guys!

I believe basically everything that is standard in the sport is standard in the hybrid. That being said, I am still waiting for my FFH, so maybe someone else who has actually received theirs will know, buyt right now that is a rare bird. As far as tracking your order on line, you can't do it yourself. You need a vin number and that seems to take two to three weeks. Once you have it and after you wear out your welcome with your dealer you can call Ford Customer Care and they can give you the status of your car. So the wait begins, Jim

I'm thinking if there are any left they won't show until the fall. I was told at the dealership (not sure how "in" the guy was) when I asked to anticipate 4 months for the car. Guess that's not beyond the realm of possibility.
Grey Report post Posted May 9, 2009 I was told at the dealership (not sure how "in" the guy was) when I asked to anticipate 4 months for the car. Guess that's not beyond the realm of possibility. Everything we hear is that Ford is still prioritizing "retail" orders (verified with a copy of the drivers license and copy of the purchase order) until June 30. I think it is to help customers qualify for the tax credit (now $1,700) and get their vehicle in a timely manner, which I believe is 8 to 10 weeks. There are dealer's salespeople out there that don't understand that it is still open allocation for retail orders. They may have heard that stock orders are delayed, and assumed everything was delayed. We are thrilled with our new Fusion Hybrid. Finding new "surprise and delight" features all the time. The sales people are to varying degrees either uninformed or trying to push you into the cars that they do have. Eight weeks seems to be most often quoted, but if your order went in before the May 4 week-long shutdown of the Ford plant in Hermosillo, you are probably looking at an extra week or two. Grey Report post Posted May 10, 2009 I asked my fleet buddy and they are being told 8-10 weeks on a Fusion and 6-8 weeks for a Milan. The plant is scheduled down the last week in June and a week in mid-August. We continue to be thrilled with the Fusion and getting about 40 MPG overall according to the info center. It will get it's second tank of gas (after the initial fill), in a few hundred miles, so will check the accuracy then. That is a big difference from the 16-18 MPG we were getting around town. I don't believe the dealership is trying to push me into a car on the lot. When I inquired about inventory and a test-drive about a month ago, they assumed I would order a vehicle, and after the test drive made no attempt to sell me the vehicle I test drove. They did copy my driver's license (didn't ask for it to test drive the vehilce, only to put the deposit down). I'm hoping to take delivery before the tax credit goes down, but I'm really no rush beforehand. This is digressing, but is there a PDF of the owner's manual available online? Grey Report post Posted May 10, 2009 The amount of the tax credit is predicated on the date you purchased/ordered the vehicle - not when you take delivery (that only dictates the year for which you can claim the credit.) If you ordered before 4/1/2009, you can claim $3,400. If you order between 4/1 and 9/30/2009, you can claim $1,700. If you take delivery in 2009, you can claim the credit on your 2009 taxes (filed in 2010). If you don't take delivery until 2010 then you wait until 2011 to claim the credit against your 2010 taxes. When you signed the purchase order with your dealership, you entered into a contract for a vehicle. Since 2006, the IRS has taken this to be your purchase date for qualifying for the tax credit. The 8910 form may be confusing, so check back here after the first of the year (2010) for more detailed instructions on filing for your tax credit. There are plenty of tax consultants that don't get it (and some IRS agents too.) The only tricky situation is where you don't actually pay in/owe taxes up to the tax credit amount, or you are caught up in the AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax.) I found the owner's manuals online at Motorcraft.com.

The Chad Report post Posted May 27, 2009 I was able to download the owners manual here: http://www.motorcraftservice.com Wasn't able to find it there. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to sign up for something? Well, it's been 3 weeks since my deposit. No VIN, no updates. Is this normal? I'm not panicking or anything, just curious if I'm still on the right timetable?

You ought to be seeing a vin number soon, but I've seen a number of posts where it was at least 4 weeks before they got a vin #. For the manual, click under "Owner Guides" - find it in the left hand gray column under "Non-Subscription Resources"

The Chad Report post Posted June 8, 2009 I found these docs floating around when doing my initial research - hope they're helpful. Thanks for all the documentation and what not. I've been using my waiting time to read up on everything. Still no word yet on production date or VIN. I don't care if it's being built slowly, but I'd just like to have a timetable of when to expect the car.

Just picked it up today! :happy feet: I got a nice surprise when I picked it up too - Pennsylvania is offering a $500 rebate on hybrids, you just send in the paperwork and they send you the $500. Grey Report post Posted June 9, 2009 The Chad---- The plant was down for a week or so last month, which may have messed up the scheduling. Check with the dealership to see what the status is on Friday. Ford updates the scheduling info on Thur evenings. The plant is scheduled down the week of June 29 (and again 8/17). Hopefully you get built before the shutdown at the end of the month. If they can't give you status on Friday, you need to start asking a lot of questions -- Do you have a dealer acknowledgement on the order? (Nice to have to prove you ordered in May and will tell you when Ford got/verified the order.) Are there any commodity issues that keep the vehicle from being scheduled? (options, paint, trim?) Are there other dealership orders in the system ahead of you? Have they been scheduled? Sometimes the salespeople are hesitant to ask the inventory manager or sales manager for follow-up information. Easier to say, "We have nothing yet." If everything is ok with the order, plan on 10 weeks. If it doesn't get built before the end of the month, plan on 12 weeks. The Chad Report post Posted June 9, 2009 Grey, Your information has been very helpful to me so far along this process. My last car I put a deposit down, the car was unsold on a boat, once it got here it just showed up. Easy peezy. I called the dealership today and my salesman said (and I have no reason not to believe him, but not everyone is as intelligent on the subject as some) that the car is going to be built Wednesday of this week. Here's hoping. That'd be about 4 weeks out then, correct? The Chad---- The plant was down for a week or so last month, which may have messed up the scheduling. If your salesman said that yours would be built on Wednesday, did he already get the VIN# from the ordering system? Seems like that should be available by now, right? I placed my order on May 14, and I learned a few days ago that the ETA of my FFH at the dealer is June 22. Time will tell, but that's the official word. That would make it about 5 1/2 weeks from order to delivery.
