bigsteve Report post Posted October 3 2018 Fusion Hybrid, 195k miles. I've had loud engine noise when at low speeds for maybe a year. About a month ago, it shut down on me on the highway. I was getting a P0E4E code (Engine lockup) and P088E (planetary failure). When I got it towed home, the engine was locked up. I dropped the transmission, and the engine would turn. So, I broke apart the transmission, and found the planetary gear assembly, ring gear, oil pump gear, the sun gear and it's thrust bearing all torn up. Everything else looks fine. Ford sells everything but the sun gear and its thrust bearing. They can't even supply the part number. From what I can find, the H4F45 transmission in the 2020+ escape Hybrid is the same, but still can't find the part number. Does anyone here know where I can order these from? Sky14FFH Report post Posted Saturday at 01:26 PM (edited) Welcome to the forum. Try the CMAX forum. It might be more active. https://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/ I think they share the same engine and transmissions. Since you obviously have the skills you can always try pick your own junkyards junkyarddog.com Let us know how it goes. What do you think caused the problem? 2018 isn't that old but 195k is a lot of miles for a 5 year old car. 39,000 miles a year, yikes. billford Report post Posted Saturday at 06:30 PM (edited) Did it run out of oil? Looks like a lot of metal missing. Before attempting a repair, are you sure you can find all the broken metal that may have circulated into the rotors, magnets, oil passages, cooler? What does the filter look like? Do you need #83 and #84? The basic part number to ask for is: 83 7D234 Sun gear thrust bearing 84 7A348 Sun gear Edited Saturday at 09:00 PM by billford 1 2014FordFusionSE reacted to this
