ctm78 Report post Posted September 7, 2008 Anyone know where the navigation system antenna gets mounted? It only has 18" or so of wire, so it can't be that far from the head unit. I checked a Fusion with factory installed nav, and it isn't visible on the dash. It has a bracket which makes it appear as if it just clips to something under the dashboard. Anyone with insight on this?
Mercury Milan Report post Posted September 12, 2008 I would be surprised if it was under the dashboard as that would block the signal. What year/make of vehicle is this? Some were located by the rear view mirror.
ctm78 Report post Posted September 15, 2008 2007 Ford Fusion. The device on the rearview is the compass; there just isn't enough length on the antenna cable to reach the rear view. (It's only about 18-24" long.) Right now it is just sitting on top of the head unit (there's a lot of open space in there.) Surprisingly, it does grab signal about 2/3 of the time even though it is covered by the dashboard storage bin.
