HiD vs Piaa Xtreme White 4000k

Today i got the chance to see the difference between a HiD Fusion and a Piaa Fusion.

Personnally there's not a big difference between the 2. Yes, HIDs provide more light....

but the guy with the PIAAs put 2 H7 and normal bulblights and 2 h11 for the fog lamps.

With the 4 PIAAs, it was a huge imrpovement vs OEM light and PIAAs are pulling 55 watts,

so you don't need to bother to buy resistor pack for it. By the way, i went to see for prices,

and i'm able to get the 4 PIAAs for around 170$, wich is much cheaper and you don't need to do nothing to the car.

 

So, i'll go for the PIAAs.

 

Too bad tho i don't have pictures to prove it. Once i'll have mine, i'll take some pics for you guys.

personally i installed HID's but an official kit not no cheap ebay bull @#$%. I had PIAA's and honestly Sylvania's Silverstar Ultra are the brightest and show the best light output for fog, lows and highs with normal draw. some people risk heat issues running the 85 watt bulbs but all you need is the silverstar ultimates but they are pricey and they are only available for special order due to h11 being not a normal source of highlight bulb. my hids are extremely illegal bc they are the brightest output of light running the pure white light of 4300k. the colored ones arent as bright and sometimes blend in with environment. i have pics but they are too large to put on here. if anyone wants to see ill send them to them

I have had the silverstar ultras, and the heat issue is a concern. I was not happy with how long they lasted as well. Just over a year. I went back to the PIAA Xtreme white for headlights, and the Plasma yellow for fog.driving lights. I love the improvement. This was in my Focus, and I will be doing the same in my fusion that I am ordering. I changed out the front signal bulb to the one that is silver coated. Makes the headlight assembly look amazing - all chrome when lights are off.

Do the PIAA's last longer than the Silverstars? I was thinking about getting Silverstars until I heard they last for like two months! Screw that!

 

It seems like HIDs are the only way to go unless the PIAAs are any good.

I just finished installing PIAA Xtreme White 4000k H7's and H11's. While they are not HID (and don't pretend to be), my opinion is they are far superior to stock bulbs and even perform better then the Silverstar Ultras I'm running in my T-Birds. Perhaps that's not a fair comparison since the the design of the headlights between the two cars are drastically different, but I am very pleased with the results on the Fusion. As for longevity, only time will tell. Now I need to decide if I'm going to put Xtreme Whites or their Plasma Yellows in the fogs.

 

I will agree with danager, the lifespan on the Silverstars sucks.
