amymichelle51 Report post Posted August 13, 2008 I have the aux jack in my Fusion. When I try to hook up my MP3 player, nothing happens. I also set the stereo to AUX, but nothing. Is there certain mp3 players that only work with the stereo system? Or do I need to do something else to make it work?

Are you trying to use the auxiliary jack, where the cable goes in where your headphones normally go, or via the USB hookup with Sync?
Dyoct Report post Posted August 15, 2008 If you're using the input jack you need to select "SYNC Line In" and not "SYNC USB" as the media source.
amymichelle51 Report post Posted August 26, 2008 I don't have SYNC, but I have the aux jack that I'm plugging my MP3 player into. I tune the radio to "line in", but nothing happens.

This may sound like a dumb question, but did you hit play on your mp3 player?
Billy4202 Report post Posted August 27, 2008 I don't have SYNC, but I have the aux jack that I'm plugging my MP3 player into. I tune the radio to "line in", but nothing happens. Make sure your cord is plugged in on both sides, in the center console and in the mp3 player, and make sure the volume's turned up all the way on your mp3 player. amymichelle51 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Yeah my MP3 player is turned on and it plays but no sound comes out of my car speakers. I've tried everything.
Laurensum Report post Posted September 7, 2008 If you're using the input jack you need to select "SYNC Line In" and not "SYNC USB" as the media source. You're doing it right, I don't have Sync either and that is how it works in my car. If you aren't having any problems with your ipod then it could be your connecting wire. Although it does sound like your having a problem with your car. You may want to call your dealership. Also make sure that the volume on your ipod isn't turned down.
mrparke Report post Posted November 25, 2008 I just bought an 08 Fusion and am having difficulties with the MP3, as well. At first I couldn't hear anything, even though the car volumume was set to max. Then I realized that I could bring the ipod volume up and could hear something - although it wasn't incredibly loud. Also, the music sounded very distant, echo-y, and like things were playing on top of each other. I though perhaps the battery was running low on the ipod, but I can hear things just fine through the headsets when I unplug the ipod from the car. Any clues? I'm guessing this is something that the dealer needs to take a look at...

Sometimes that may fix a problem, like rebooting your computer.
bigboyd4 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Here's one you guys can help me with. 08 Fusion SE w/SYNC. In the USB port, my son's ipod plays w/o a hitch. As was my 32GB flash drive loaded with 2,400 mp3's...at first. Now, the flash drive is still inserted, the display shows the title of the song that's playing and the running time of the song that's playing. BUT I GET NO SOUND!Then, a couple of days later...SOUND!This latest NO SOUND period has lasted for 5 days. Everything else is working w/o a hitch.Any ideas? Anyone else having this issue? Have you updated the 2 Sync updates (1.1 and 1.2) from syncmyride.com? I'd do that first.

It might also be worth pulling the SYNC fuse for 30 seconds or so and then re-inserting it. I think it's fuse 13 on the Fusion, but check your owner's manual to be sure (there should be a fuse listing in the maintenance section). This often helps this problem, from what I've read. MissThangRebecca Report post Posted October 14, 2009 Ok. how did you get it to display the song titles? I have an 08 Fusion, and i plugged in my ipod video into the center console, and it will play the song, but all it says is "Line In" and wont display the song information. The same thing with my CD's. None of them do, they just say what number they are on the CD. ugh. someone please help, its pretty frustrating.

The same thing with my CD's. None of them do, they just say what number they are on the CD. ugh. someone please help, its pretty frustrating. This advice is only for pre-2010 Fusions. These radios have a green text for their display. I had a problem with my wife's 2008 Edge. Not all MP3s would play and it would not read from the thumb drive at all. I installed the latest update from SYNCMYRIDE.com and it fixed the issue. This will only help people who have Sync equipped vehicles. Playing CDs: It will not display any CD/song info from a normal CD. If your radio can play MP3s,(I think it says "MP3"on the front of the radio) it will be able to decode the data from the MP3s and display song titles and artist names as long as that data is attached to the MP3. Use a MP3 tag checker to verify. Otherwise it will just say "no artist". This goes for MP3 CDs and music being played through a thumb drive via the USB port. As for IPODs, I am not 100% sure but I believe the USB port is only used for power. You also have to attach the IPOD to an audio jack (looks like a headphone jack). This jack does not transmit any song info to the radio. It's just like plugging speakers in to your IPOD. Only sound is coming out. Like I said, I'm not 100% certain that's how IPOD work with Ford vehicles. My 2007 Fusion didn't have sync or a usb port but it could play MP3 CDs.
