Adding rear deck speakers to Fusion

Recommended Posts

Hello Fusion fans! The original radio I have is the six speaker radio so I don't have any speakers in the rear deck. If I wanted to add two up there how would I do it. How would they be wired? Would I cut into rear speakers for power or would I have to run wires up to the stereo and hook the wires into the wiring harness? Would an amplifier be needed for the two speakers? I'm not too up on car stereo stuff and I am trying to learn as I go:) I am adding a sub to the car now and am using RCA wires to power that from the back of the unit (after market Pioneer AVHP4000DVD that has rca preamp outs for the sub, which is a powered subwoofer). Thank you

You can either run new speaker wire all the way up to the back of the radio or just tap in to the rear speakers it will make it much easier

Thanks for the reply f150harley! Do you think cutting into the rear speakers will lessen the strength or power of the rear speakers any or will it be okay since it is an aftermarket stereo?

Also, how do you remove the rear deck to get in there to place the speakers? I saw in another post a link to buy instructions, but I am sure it can't be that hard and I would rather save my $2.99 :P

hey you have to remove the rear seat back and remove the c pillar upper trim. it takes about ten mins. but i work on them all day so it may take anyone not familiar alittle longer. be careful the push pins will sometimes come up an tear the rear parcel deck material. its cheap and breaks damages easily

Please note that if you tap into existing speakers you will change the impedance load on the head unit which could cause damage.

Yes, depending on how they're wired. I'd suggest disconnecting the rear door speakers and using those connections - in effect moving them from the doors to the rear deck.

Id like to piggy back my question as its related. I have an 08 SE w Audiophile 8 speaker system. So as you prob already know, I have the 2 speakers on the rear deck, and I know the 2010 utilizes the 3rd speaker hole in the chasis. I was wanting to do the same, but will tapping off one of the other 2 deck speakers to the 1 speaker to the middle spot on the deck cause any probs?

All depends on how you tap. If you're going to be adding a sub then there are adapters for this.

I just checked and the PAC LC2 should work. Just add the appropriate amp (or buy an amp with one already built in). If you buy an amp, try to get one that can be bridged into mono.
